CONCORD, N.H. -- Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Saturday that he thinks the Democratic race for the White House has become too personal as supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton have accused him and his campaign of taking on a sexist tone.
I do, and I think that is unfortunate, Sanders told reporters at a news conference called here to tout endorsements from a statewide postal workers union and two local trade unions.
We disagree on a number of the issues, but I dont think we want to make this campaign personal, and I have tried my best not to do that, Sanders said. A serious election is a debate on the issues. Thats called democracy, not attacking people on a personal level.
Sanders has been fending off suggestions of sexism from Clinton boosters since late last week, when Clinton took issue with one of Sanderss comments on gun control from the first Democratic debate in Las Vegas. Sanders said that he favors sensible solutions to reduce violence but told Clinton that all the shouting in the world is not going to do what I hope all of us want.

(14,177 posts)He is/was friends with Hillary. I don't know how much lying was done in other campaigns. But, I see what is going on now and the lying is brutal. I think he gets campaign amnesia anyway. Like when you have more than one kid you sort of forget the hospital stuff and it's all good when you get home.

Just another red herring.

(45,251 posts)in which both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party united to back a single candidate against him and ones where his opponent outspent him by many millions. And all with very little money and no political party behind him.
But, thanks for your input re: Hillary's sharpened claws! You may want to watch that kind of comparison, though. Some might see it as sexist?

(20,453 posts)It's what made the Democrats start acting like Republicans YEARS ago.
Fortunately, I and many, many others, including all sorts of people I talk to on the campaign trail every day don't buy into the sharp claws. It sure does not compliment a disingenuous approach, either.

(10,495 posts)False attacks by your candidate is a good thing? I know this is politics, at least how it is currently practiced, but it's another reason why I support Bernie, he wouldn't do it. It's called character.
Funny, I cannot picture you saying the Benghazi hearings are still ok even though it's a pure political hatchet job, but hey, good to see them sharpening their claws huh?

(12,816 posts)I haven't been following very closely (since this whole "sexist" claim isn't one of the real issues of the campaign), so I don't know who jumped all over Sanders first about the word "shout" supposedly being used as some kind of sexist slander, but it really speaks more to a) someone's thin skin, or b) someone's looking at the world through misogynist-colored glasses, or c) someone's attempt to swiftboat Sanders a la Karl Rove (e.g. taking something that didn't happen and claiming loudly that it happened).
I have no doubt that Hillary's claws are sharp and ready for the fight, which is great, but this all seems to me to be something cooked up on the sidelines by someone else.

We must get money out of politics. It used to be a Democratic goal, but some Democrats have decided to forgo that goal until after their candidate wins. HRC is willing to use Citizens United black money but says she will nominate Supreme Court Justices to end it, after she uses is. It's called situational ethics.
