Bernie Sanders: an honest leader building a movement with you, to give us a future to believe in.
The presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) launched his first television ad on Sunday.
The 30-second spot, titled "Real Change," is slated to go on air in the key early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, and is backed by more than $2 million. The ad focuses on Sanders' background and policy record, stretching back to his time as mayor of Burlington, Vermont.
People are sick and tired of establishment politics and they want real change," Sanders says in the commercial.
The ad follows several good weeks of headlines for one of his rivals in the race for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton. The former secretary of state has seen her standing improve after the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas and her testimony at the Benghazi committee on Capitol Hill.

(50,986 posts)of his history in the ad, and it just seems like that's a good idea for voters out there still sizing up his candidacy.
I think the longer and more closely they listen to Bernie's message, the greater the likelihood they would support him. He's out there battling for their best interests.

(3,859 posts)The Establishment Empire has had their air game up for weeks. Millions of dollars spent by HRC on TV ads in IA and NH. Now we'll see even those 20th century polls move in the correct direction, i.e. against the oligarchy.

(85,373 posts)I'll grant you, politics in the 50's was much better than what came since, but is it feasible to try to resurrect the past, or should we be dealing with the present and looking towards the future?
I'd like to see how this ad campaign evolves. Nostalgia is a good place to start, but we can't stay stuck there.
I think he ought to go into veterans--present-day and past, and what he's done to balance the national debt to the soldiers who gave to the nation their all....that could bring his efforts into the present and then the future, including the end to wars of choice, wars of aggression, wars of empire and corporate profiteering.
and after that--education. Starting with Kent State, and working forward. If you want to bring change, show why!

(11,945 posts)It says this is who he is, this is who he's always been, this is what he stands for, and this is why thousands and thousands of your fellow Americans love him. And it does mention his work for veterans.
I would think they will play this for awhile in the beginning and scatter it into geographic areas where people need an introduction. Then, when people are more aware of him, they will begin more targeted ads.
(I studied this sort of thing in college, though never worked in the field.)

A sampling:
Hes also supporting the corrupt candy industry. Capitalist shithead.
And is he making the kids who got more candy share their candy with those who got less?
Where are the black grandkids? Why does Bernie Sanders hate black people?
Youre just using the #HeHatesEveryone message to downplay his disproportionate hatred of women and black people.
Help! Wheres the trigger warning for the picture of an old white male? I call microaggression!
Old, white, STRAIGHT male. Get it right, you problematic piece of shit.
Look at how he ignores his Asian granddaughter in order to munch down on capitalist confectionaries. Hes hit the sexist, racist, hypocritical trifecta all in one second.
Yes, if this video is any indication, Bernie has a lot of learning and a lot of work left to do in order to gain the trust of the Asian community. Treating his granddaughter like a docile, best-seen-and-not-heard geisha stereotype is not going to do him any favors at the ballot box.
Because hes a fucking sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic pig. I will be voting for Hillary Clinton, who is the exact opposite of these things.

(11,945 posts)TV time costs money. That ad manages to put the most important things about Bernie in less than 2 minutes. It introduces him as he really is. It flows perfectly. The images are striking and real. It talks to America where we live.
Fabulous job!! I hope the campaign plays it widely and well.

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is taking his efforts up a notch, launching the first TV ad of his campaign. The biographical spot that quickly goes through Sanders life and describes him as an honest leader is meant to help introduce the senator to voters in Iowa and New Hampshire. The tagline may sound a tad bit familiar though. Sanders promises a future to believe in, which certainly doesnt sound very far from President Obamas change we can believe in.
The campaign will spend more than $2 million broadcasting the ad over the next 10 days, according to CNN. "Thousands of Americans have come out to see Bernie speak and we've seen a great response to his message," said Jeff Weaver, Sanders campaign's manager. "This ad marks the next phase of this campaign. We're bringing that message directly to the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire."
I just now remembered to "like" the video at youtube. If you find it hard to navigate to youtube from within the embedded video, go to the following link and choose the video "Real Change". On the page for that video you'll see the "Like" (thumbs-up) button.

(51,907 posts)Notice how the ad specifically mentions building a political movement. Bernie Sanders isnt only interested in winning the Democratic nomination. He is trying to build a movement that will change the United States of America.
Sanders campaign manager John Weaver said, Thousands of Americans have come out to see Bernie speak and weve seen a great response to his message. This ad marks the next phase of this campaign. Were bringing that message directly to the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire.
The Sanders campaign is growing. The movement is evolving. Bernie Sanders isnt going to be stopped by politics as usual. Whether or not he wins the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders is sending shockwaves through American politics with his movement to change America by handing political power back to ordinary Americans.
The message that Republicans, their billionaires, and the corporate interests dont want people to hear is now being broadcast over the mass media. The Sanders call for taking the country back has gone mainstream.
