Related: About this forumWhat's the deal with cancelled D.C. Enough is Enough rally?
I read their message at eventbrite, but something just doesn't make sense and smells off about this whole thing.

What am I missing? What's the deal with this group and how bad is this?
retrowire
(10,345 posts)BUT, if people want a revolution, those who wanted to go, should still go.
Just because the organizers can't afford tickets doesn't mean that those who can should avoid going.
The fact that these organizers are instead upset and attempting to sue Cornel West just throws up the red flag that they obviously don't care to aid the movement that much.
Sorry they wasted their money, but do they really want to take a hit at one of Bernie's team players to cushion their fall?
Honestly, if I were them I'd just set up a gofundme and ask people to help me with the plane tickets while continuing to encourage others to go!
But since their reaction is "fuck it guys, we can't show up so we're cancelling" then I just see that they never really had any heart in it. It seems they were more interested in being responsible for something big and taking credit for it.
You heard it from Retrowire folks, you don't NEED some guys to host an event. Your NUMBERS are enough, CONTINUE THE MARCH.
That largely conforms my POV.

(35,568 posts)and can't pull it off so they're blaming other people.
Cornel West wasn't even an important part of the event when most people signed up. That happened later (if it really happened at all) so this kind of reeks. Speakers cancel all the time, you don't cancel events just because 1 person can't make it.
They probably didn't have the necessary permits and set-up so now it's everyone else's fault.
I invite you to read this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251698551 and see how badly it was being organized by someone who said they had 20 years experience organizing events (baby showers it seems now) but was daft enough to state you don't need a permit to gather 100,000 people in Washington DC. Lol! And now the whining that Senator Sanders impeded the event. Sounds like bullshit. His campaign politely distanced itself from it from the start. Those 2 clowns took over a grassroots event and fucked it over. It happens all the time with grassroots efforts.
These bozos couldn't even set up a website. What kind of professional organizers with 20 years experience are these? Click around on their lame site here on a free host (lol) and you'll see it's just an empty wix shell http://enoughisenoughdc.wix.com/breach. The about us, repertoire, booking, gallery links are empty with just the default information that came with the shell. It doesn't even have its homepage http://enoughisenoughdc.wix.com
Professional event organizers? I don't think so. Sounds more like event hijackers or total incompetents. As someone who's organized large events in the past (San Francisco City Hall, SF Giants Park). I'm leaning towards option 1 because of some sketchy behavior people noticed with the organizers.
I could be wrong but without digging into it too much, that's what I think right now.
And there's this too written on Aug 18, 2015 by the original organizer
Amanda Copeland and Karen Sterling (and maybe others) are attempting to co-opt OUR COLLECTIVE rally, in its entirety. They feign confusion on what anyone who mentions its previous incarnations is talking about, and remove and ridicule reference to our months of hard work. Do not be turned away by this arrogance. Stay on board, and lets make this work. Together.
After contacting me out of the blue, Amanda stated I am the organizer of the 100,000+ Enough is Enough Rally Bernie Sanders for Pres We moved the event over to Event Brite
...
Amanda and Karen then both claimed to know nothing of what they refer to as some other rally by the exact same name, at the exact place, that had over 120k listed as Going for months. Recall how the alternative press (upon which we rely for any semblance of a level playing field) was all over our efforts. Then we are to believe that Amanda and/or Karen and/or whomever come up with THE EXACT SAME NAME as our evolving rally, in that case? I dont believe that is true.
This event is an evolution, of ALL our efforts. It might even still succeed, despite the destructive snipping thus far; despite slapping the 120k+ in the face by now co-opting the idea, seemingly to get the credit. If we hope to attract 1/10 of the original 120k, we need all the publicity we can get, so lets hang together, instead of trying to disavow each other.
...
Of course, once I explained this, the insults really escalated Are you really for Bernie? Men are so touchy about their place in life, Karen asked, then noted in innocent bewilderment, after contacting me out of nowhere, calling my running blog about OUR phenomenal, crowd-sourced and unprecedented success called a bull***t post, asking me to cease and desist. I, of course, will no more stop than do I hope she or any of the other 120k+ do. We #FeelTheBern, despite ulterior motives and petty desires for 15 minutes in the sun.

It looks bad, with the only good news being that there probably won't be any negative press attached to it.
I'm glad to have the Thanksgiving weekend back, but don't know if I'll be able to get a ticket refund.

To try to harm his campaign.
Word of advice, if the email, event, etc does not directly come from the official Bernie campaign website, it should not be trusted.
The other side plays dirty.

(11,366 posts)that might be as believable as what led up to the cancellation of the event.
If this group can't organize itself to host a rally, they probably don't have much chance of organizing itself to sue someone - if he even really signed their agreement to begin with.
