Even though it's close to 2 decades old, when I listen to the lyrics of this song I can't help but feel that they were meant for a newly sworn in President Sanders.
Mr. President, (by Cookie, written/vocals by Sabrina Rockarena)
Mr. President sir,
I would like to be assured
will you act on my behalf,
never take a promise back?
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution) This isn't right!
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution)
Your countrymen are full of doubt,
all their leaders sold them out!
Frightened, torn apart,
prove to us you're pure of heart!
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution) This isn't right!
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution)
We need to know that you are one of us
help us rebuild our trust.
We need to know that you live by the rules
The same set we are held up to!
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution) This isn't right!
(Revolution) You've got to fight! (Revolution)
What's done, shown the past
have times changed as much as that?
What we've all grown to expect
for ourselves is so much less!
(Revolution...revolution)
(Revolution...revolution)
FIGHT!

(10,558 posts)'Newly sworn in' fits a little better than 'President Elect' which is the position I described without intending to do so. Thanks for catching that.

(45,251 posts)You are very kind about my literalness. An eyeroll smilie would have been an understandable way to go. Or "Lighten up, Francis." Again, thanks for the song.
