Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThe best anti Bernie grumbling I heard all day...
Recently had a chance to see the Mythbusters live with my significant other... was a lot of fun. Many laughs were had... which was much needed. We hadn't been on a date in a while and we really needed one.
After the show, we were in the lobby to get either a program or a poster (we like to keep mementos of our trips to the stage), and the subject of politics came up.
In the usual fashion, Trump's name burbled up to the surface like the toxic sludge he is, and everyone suddenly looked like they had just tasted the most foul thing ever, and they were about to demand their money back for the experience... then, someone else mentioned they liked Bernie.
I caught one person mumble sulkily under their breath "Everybody talks about Bernie. I can't walk ten feet without hearing about him."
All I could think, in reaction to his comment was "Good". I just smiled though, and walked away.

(2,603 posts)Media be damned, Bernie is still getting the message out through us.
I've had 2 garage sales over the last month and heard many positive comments about Bernie and our stickers on the cars. Kinda surprised me, especially living in SW FL.

(22,000 posts)until after the GE in November. This summer I am traveling home for two weeks (which I only do once every two years) and have decided no matter who the nominee is I'm not going to get sucked into doing anything political. My vacation is just that. Once I vote in my primary I'm not going to do much (if anything) until I vote in the GE.

(46,436 posts)but almost all comments I see on my feed are pro-Bernie. I have one adamant Hillary fan who is very, very defensive. Kind of like here.

(46,436 posts)of course, which is why I said it was unscientific. BUT as most of my friends and their friends are either Democrats or independents, it is kind of interesting that there is so little support for Hillary.

(7,865 posts)I have friends from all parties (the majority being lefties or democrats) and only one WAS a hillary fan. She strangely posts nothing about the election. Eight years ago she was a wild Hillary fan and last spring she talked up Hillary a great deal. Something mysteriously changed and she no longer has any Hillary groups referenced on her facebook page and has liked a few Bernie groups. I don't ask her about it at all because I don't like putting people on the spot about such things.
All I can think of is that something must have changed her mind in the last six months.
But yeah, not a single Hillary fan on my friends list. It is kind of weird. There were two out of three hundred Trump fans (who I cut from my friends list after learning of their support of him.)

(4,280 posts)We desperately need changes in our media! As Bernie has said, it's bad for our country.

(248 posts)us Bernie supporters the opportunity to bring him up as an alternative to Trump. This past weekend I had a sort of Christmas dinner outing with some friends (who are not very political people). Trump's name came up during conversation and (as the OP mentioned) there was a general feeling of disgust and disbelief that someone like Trump can still be viable in American politics. Then I pivoted to Bernie as the "anti-Trump" candidate. A couple of them responded that they like what he says and he seems to make a lot of sense. There was a general consensus imo that Bernie is well respected and liked among us. I hope that translates into some votes (I am working on it), but it makes me feel good to know that people are hearing about Bernie despite the media blackout.

(11,945 posts)I too run into Bernie supporters in unexpected places. Everyone is excited about him, and supporters of his competition are on the rampage around here. It's getting ridiculous.
