A Brand New Ignore List

I've been on DU a long time. It helped get me through 8 years of Bush. I was here for the Obama/Clinton Shenanigans of 2008. Don't like Hillary, would never vote for her even though as white middle-aged, middle-class female I'm her target demographic. What I am seeing is basically a re-run of what happened here during the primaries then, except on steroids and so much worse. I got very excited about Obama (he wasn't my first choice) but gravitated to him initially because he wasn't Hillary. I volunteered, I donated money, blah de blah the whole nine yards. But that was only in the first election, the second time around I went and saw him speak, bought some swag and voted but a lot of the initial giddiness and hope had dissipated. I still like Obama, I think he is an inherently decent man, but the system is corrupt and it corrupts those in it.

Except Bernie, he seems immune to the corruption all around him. He has never wavered from his values. They don't all match mine. I don't think any one person can share all of my values. But as someone running for president, he comes the closest I have ever come to in my voting life time or thought I would within the corrupt system we have devolved to now. To have the chance to vote for someone like him is exhilarating. Which amazes me to see people on a supposedly progressive, liberal board trash him so badly. Just the absolute fucking glee the Hillary supporter have about this "scandal" today, turns my stomach. So, I did something today I thought that I would never do. I started my very own ignore list. I've only just begun and have a feeling it will grow but already DU is a nicer place. Just thought I would share here with my fellow Bernista's. I stand with Bernie, I trust Bernie and I'm Feelin' the Bern.

I've been on DU for years and only had one or two people on ignore, and never for more than a couple weeks. That has all changed since this primary season began.

I now have many on ignore. It honestly pains me to do that, but it's the only way to be able to tolerate this place at the present time. Do what you have to do, but don't be silenced. Continue to post and speak out.

Bernie is the best, most honest candidate of my lifetime. I am proud to support a person of such integrity and look forward to voting for him in the primary and general election.

BTW - good to see you here. Don't be a stranger.

It is like personal censorship but the idiotic arguments and the unearned vitriol is just too much. I am here everyday, I enjoy reading so many posts and I learn so much here that I will not give this place up. I just needed to do a little house cleaning.

It's like closing the door on a messy room. I know the garbage and dirt is still there but I don't have to see it. But your are so right, it was a tough call, one poster in particular pushed me over the edge and I just decided if I was going to do it, why not go all the way.

What is sad, I have found it necessary to use Ignore on posters I have known for years and you I used to respect a great deal. The constant vitriol finally got me started with one or two and then, like you, I then went all the way. Hide thread and Ignore have made it possible to again enjoy the DU.

Plus, Bernie has the voting record to show the exact intent of his entire political career.

I see you probably don't post much, but I wish you would here... at least in this group. I like and relate to how it feels here at times. I added another few to the list myself, and I've always had a "small" group I ignore...

But NOTHING like the group that has grown over the last 4 or so months. Unbelievable.

Take care,

MMM

I don't post much, I'm more of a lurker, but I enjoy when I do. It's wonderful to interact with so many smart and funny people. I feel like James Dean in DU just now in Rebel Without a Cause, "Your tearing me apart!" I've never seen the like. The Republicans are eating their own and the Democrats are finally trying to reclaim their party and being eviscerated for it. We do live in interesting times.

but right now, I've got so many cowpies on my waiting-to-ignore compost pile it's not even remotely funny.

07-08 was a nasty time, really racist, hateful and nasty things were said and talking points issued. But this year, Camp Weathervane and some of the She-Who-Sticks-Fingers-In-The-Wind supporters have made DU suck ass.

Ignore list and Hide thread is like spraying a can of Febreeze.

Sat Dec 19, 2015, 02:55 PM

At first it was quite small, no more that 20 folks tops-I have a strong stomach afterall. Then the Obama elections years came in and that strong stomach reached it's limits so I stared expanded that list to ignore of the PUMA and jerks that came along with 'em. Once Obama got elected it got more action to deal with the Obama bots. Now after a long pause I'm finding I'm using it again to ignore the rabid Hillary folks. Especially those who think you're evil cause you don't support her or wont accept/vote for the democratic version of the ticking bomb theory (i.e. it'll be doomsday for the supreme court it you don't support the democratic candidate-even if it's someone you detest). And that list is still growing (and I might start the jury ignore as well). Which is a part of the reason why I have a dismal outlook on the 2016 elections.
