Related: About this forumAs you all know. We have lost one of our members this morning due to a
TOS violation
Manny has gone to spend time on other things, such as his philanthropy. You may message one of our hosts if you wish for more information. His satire here will be missed by many.

(8,545 posts)Winning elections is important therefore, advocating in favor of Republican nominees or in favor of third-party spoiler candidates that could split the vote and throw an election to our conservative opponents is never permitted on Democratic Underground. But that does not mean that DU members are required to always be completely supportive of Democrats. During the ups-and-downs of politics and policy-making, it is perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about the Democratic officials we worked hard to help elect. When we are not in the heat of election season, members are permitted to post strong criticism or disappointment with our Democratic elected officials, or to express ambivalence about voting for them. In Democratic primaries, members may support whomever they choose. But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear. For non-presidential contests, election season begins on Labor Day. Everyone here on DU needs to work together to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of American government. If you are bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for our candidates during election season, we'll assume you are rooting for the other side.

(4,211 posts)We're still in primary season. The PPR constitutes an act of silencing a dissenting opinion. Not a violation of the ToS
When someone that has ultimate power and is In-It-To-Win-It for Hill...some voices apparently need to be taken out...also serves as a warning to others as an example.
But we know that he is alive and well, speaking freely to the World, in other locations...so, nothing was stopped.

(32,067 posts)been ignoring politics in most places lately. I'm sorry to see this though. I loved Manny's sarcasm and I didn't see him as divisive at all. Maybe I misjudged, but I did think he was a true progressive who was sick of the take-over of the party by the third way.
Manny I will miss you.

(12,471 posts)Sorry to see him go.
I guess it will be only a matter of time before they throw me out too.
I never did too well in places like these. I eventually get under folks' skins, and they throw me out any way.
I'll be seein' Manny on Facebook though.

(11,795 posts)I went off on Facebook about the DNC thing yesterday. If I said on DU what I'd said on FB, probably I'd be gone too (though I don't post enough to draw Manny levels of attention).
I'm sad to see him go and will mosey on over to JackpineRadicals.

(72,631 posts)1.) EVERYBODY... was angry yesterday, and there were lots of threads where things were said, in said anger. To me, in times like that... unique/unusual times... an Admin Warning might be a better way to go.
2.) There was a poster (who shall remain nameless) who outed a HRC supporter (who shall remain nameless) yesterday during the mele, for a post from the 2008 Campaign who stated that they would rather die, than vote for Barack Obama. Said it in many different ways in just one lengthy post.
Yet that poster still posts here.
Maybe they apologized, and were reinstated... I do not know.
The point I'm attempting to make, is to realize that were are all human, and provocative posts tend to provoke, by definition.
I'd love to see some sort of leeway for people who have a long history of posting, and a body of work that suggests where their true heart is... especially in a moments of heat, as ALL of yesterday was.
Many here did not find Manny humorous... I understand that.
Most... as evident in his post history, found him both thought provoking, and funny as hell.
I for one will miss him, and will welcome him and others back with open arms.
I look forward to that day.
Thank you, Autumn.

Manny didn't say anything many, many others haven't said, including myself. The TOS states specifically anything goes during the primary, but Manny was TS'd for the TOS rules for the general election. It is a blatant unfair application of the rules. And the grave-dancing by the usual clowns is just ugly.

(21,046 posts)For saying something that the jury thought was offensive to all Texans. In fact, one juror said "MOL how would you like it if someone said bad things about your state?"
Well, strangely enough, I an a native Texan and have lived here all my life, but I didn't state that in my post.
I know I'm surrounded by recta. (That's the plural of assholes, or you could say "ani" as plural of anus.)

(602 posts)I'm offline for a day and come back to this. Manny's posts almost always made me smile -- except when they made me want to punch a wall. Sometimes they did both.
Another exile, another reason not to renew.

(111,277 posts)He laughed at us, we laughed at him, and he laughed at himself. That's rare around here.
I think the PPR was a bum rap, but it's not my site. I'm just a barnacle around here, occasionally clinging to other people's posts.
