(11,366 posts)I was wondering more what my payments would be...it looks like people with more income but not yet on SS might wind up paying nothing. I thought that If that applied equally it might be a windfall for SS recipients...

(51,907 posts)The net savings from single payer come from reduced spending on administrative activities, in both
private insurers and providers offices, reduced spending on monopoly prices for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and a slowdown in the growth of spending because of controls on administrative costs and drug prices. While these savings come to over $10 trillion in 10 years, they are offset by increased spending because of the extension of coverage to the uninsured and increases in utilization with the removal of copayments and deductibles.

(51,907 posts)Under Bernie's healthcare plan, an estimated 27% of households will pay $0 in healthcare premiums, 68% pay less than $100/month, and 91% pay less than $250/month. Plus, if you get sick or injured, NO copayment at the doctor, NO deductibles for treatments. Let's get out there and make this a reality!
Alright folks. Under Bernie's plan, there's a new payroll tax set at 2.2% of household income above $28800. My income percentiles came from 2014 census data found here.

(50,983 posts)But we have several very strong factors on our side.
1. The enormous savings are undeniable.
2. The entire rest of the developed world is already enjoying these savings.
3. The status quo, even with the ACA, is unsustainable. It is killing and bankrupting people every day.
