Without apology to St. Dylan of Thomas

I have always thought that Dylan Thomas got it exactly wrong.
So, I have presumed to fix it for him.

========================

Go gentle into that good night,
Old age should not burn and rave at close of day;
Embrace, embrace the dying of the light.

Wise women at their end know dark is right,
Because their words have shone like pearls they
Go gentle into that good night.

Good women, the last wave by, seeing how bright
Their tender deeds have danced in the green bay,
Embrace, embrace the dying of the light.

Wild women who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learned, at last, they loved it on its way,
Go gentle into that good night.

Brave women, near death, who see with splendent sight
Warm eyes could shine like moonlight and be gay,
Embrace, embrace the dying of the light.

And you, my lover, there on the sad, triumphant height,
Bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Go gentle into that good night.
Embrace, embrace the dying of the light.

~for Kathy, of course.
