Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJoe nailed it. Trump is the first President in our history ...
who purposely, and as a perfect extension of everything he stands for, made a conscious decision to not represent all American citizens, and in fact to expressly attempt to ignore, marginalize, and punish all who did not support him.
Mayor Pete is still the closest candidate to my personal wants and beliefs, but if Joe gets the nomination, I can only pray that Dems refrain from a circular firing squad and support anyone who can send Donald Fucking Trump waddling into obscurity.

(37,648 posts)Not just Democratic Party politicians. He's actually tried to harm the citizens. The tax cut bill was one of those things...it targeted the big cities with his property taxes, which are Democratic party base citizens.
Dumping illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities...Democratic bastions. Which would harm the citizens, not the politicians.
Name calling. Demonizing. It's disgusting.

(52,328 posts)shrub operated in general contempt for democrats in terms of policy, and really made no allowance for the fact that the majority voted for gore. however, he did give lip service to representing all americans, even if his policies didn't reflect that.
donald fraud, however, has as his core issue, the establishment and promotion of a social hierarchy that puts a majority of americans -- anyone who isn't a rich, straight, white, christian, republican male -- in a disadvantaged position, to be punished and mocked and ridiculed and insulted by those higher up in the pecking order.
the only people he really represents are selfish, amoral people who tick *all* the boxes. but he's a con man, so he dupes people who tick most of the boxes and then are surprised when they get screwed because of the one box they don't tick. a lot of them have all the boxes except the "rich" part, and then they're shocked when they get screwed by a republicans policy.

There are literally millions of people parading around in MAGA hats who Trump wouldn't piss on if they spontaneously combusted in the Oval Office.

(37,748 posts)Above and beyond any policy positions, I think Biden's verbalizing (and thus galvanizing) those nagging doubts so many quiet people have been experiencing for two years, but have been unable to put into words.
Biden's opening narrative is that we're all in this together... that we share the same problems, and that we can share the same solutions as well. And in doing so through stark contrast, he implicitly shines a bright light onto the divisive and tiresome Oppressed Us vs. Hedonistic Them routine Trump relies on so much.
