Yang to give 'Freedom Dividend' of $12K next year to Iowa, New Hampshire families
Businessman and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang is working on a plan to give out $1,000 per month to two families in New Hampshire and Iowa as a way of demonstrating the benefits of his "Freedom Dividend" plan.
Yang told New Hampshire Public Radio and the Des Moines Register that one family in each state will receive $1,000 per month, funded personally by Yang, for a year after making it through an application process on his presidential campaign website.
Im going to be giving a Freedom Dividend to a person or family in Iowa. Thats $1,000 a month for 12 months out of my own pocket, he told the Register.
We are looking for someone that would be a good illustration of many families facing issues here in Iowa, Yang said. Also, someone whos willing to share their story.

(713 posts)I don't think Yang has the political experience to be a good Presidential Candidate, but I have to give him credit for innovative thinking. He is saying and doing things unheard of before in American politics with his guaranteed income plan and his response to automation in industry. I would be interested to hear how his pilot plan of a Freedom Dividend works out. Maybe Yang could be head of the Commerce Department in the next Democratic Administration, or some other such post.

(713 posts)Not sure whether it was every family or every adult. I would like to hear more about these demonstration pilot programs he is doing in New Hampshire and Iowa. Even if his candidacy is going nowhere, he is bringing up issues that no other mainstream candidate is talking about, so I give him some credit for that.
