Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumDemocratic Pundits' disregard of Elizabeth Warren & Bernie Sanders a losing Democratic recipe
Democratic leaders and pundits would do well to stop trying to slant Democrats' views of the state of the race and the candidates. It will hurt chances to win not only the presidency but Congress and state legislatures as it depresses a more engaged millennial base.

I guess the main thing now is to encourage young and disenfranchised to register Dem and prove the MSM the soma of the masses that it is.

(6,232 posts)We have many excellent candidates running. All I see is that folks will vote for whoever gets the nomination. That's how it goes.
Anyone who knows what is going on will vote for the Dem. I would love to see a Biden/Harris ticket. We have not had a woman VP yet. Then she would be positioned to be president later. We need a candidate that can beat trump. That means he/she has to appeal to more than those on the left. It's about the numbers.

(2,461 posts)SBS isn't only appealing to the 'left' as is commonly projected.
I see him more as a pragmatist and proponent of the 99%. That 99% spans all spectrums.
The middle, if things keep going the way the middle is running things, is only going to become a less-favorable option for the majority. The middle for some reason, seems to be seen as a 'average'. But it isn't. It is very very small. If you took a median instead, the middle would be way out to one side as far as policy preference goes.
Big mistakes in the wind.
Edit: I would also like to see a woman on the ticket. Sanders/Warren or Warren/Sanders. I also like Harris, but prefer Warren. She has more backbone.
Edit: Hey, if Warren can overcome her once Republican past, maybe Harris will be able to overcome not prosecuting Munuchin. That'll be tough - but I believe, especially for women, sometimes you do shitty things in order to be heard.

He is no longer shiny nor new.
Enter Beto O'Rourke and Pete Buttigieg who are vacuuming the Millennial support from the ultra left.

(52 posts)Bernie is no longer the shiny new thing, but it's not Beto or Mayor Pete that are getting the support from the ultra left. It's Elizabeth Warren. We've always seen her outrage at the inequality but she seemed to come across a little soft. But now, now she's getting more powerful in her speeches, stronger, more stately. Beto is already struggling to keep the spotlight he had, and Mayor Pete will struggle with inexperience. All the while Warren and Harris will be gaining steam.
