Democratic presidential hopeful Castro tours Berlin campus

BERLIN, NEW HAMPSHIRE — Democratic presidential hopeful Julian Castro made a quick visit to White Mountains Community College in Berlin Monday to hear firsthand the issues that concern voters here.

“I wanted to come and visit the North Country because I wanted to make sure I heard the issues here,” the Texan said.

With students studying for final exams, the college was quiet, but Castro toured the facility with college President Chuck Lloyd and spoke to staff and students who were present.

Castro, who served as U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama administration, said employment was a concern he heard mentioned frequently during the tour.

He is taking the grassroots approach visiting community that don't see a lot of primary candidates. I wish he was doing better in the polls.
