What is Bernie Asking of those to whom he wants to give so much?

Bernie is very much an us vs them style populist, it seems. Take from THEM ... mostly the rich. Give to US... the poor, the middle class, workers, students...

Is anything asked OF those to whom so much is to be given?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Your question nails the problem with populism. The whole premise is built on fueling anger and rationalizing that “we” are going to take from “them.”

But never a word about what contributions the populists are going to make to a better future.

It is JFK’ “ask not” turned on its head.

Populism isn’t compatible with liberalism.

their families? Have they not already sacrificed at the expense of the uber rich. Just check where wealth has gone over the last 40+ years.

He asks them to stay involved in government. To hold government accountable. To run for office.

They're already doing their part creating wealth. The whole point is those of us creating wealth through our labors are living lives below the value of the wealth we create.

There are some very disturbing responses in this thread. Shameful.

Our labors are enriching very few when they should be enriching all. When wealth was distributed better we had a thriving/growing middle class. We invested in infrastructure. Now it's like pulling teeth to get the money needed to educate our children properly, take care of our elderly. Once upon a time our middle class had savings they could live on for at least 5 years if catastrophe hit, now if you miss one paycheck you're screwed.

His was mostly a lifetime of work avoidance.

And the work he did (world's worst carpenter, world's worst fiction writer, world's worst documentary filmmaker) were done poorly, by his own admission and by those who knew him.

His record deserves to be vetted.

A little story:

I was once fired from a job because my employer didn't like a response to a statement he made. In a meeting he told us we should be grateful to have a job that gave us benefits. I told him in no uncertain terms he didn't give us anything, we worked for it. That when each of us came to be employed there the interview was a 2 way street. And one of the reasons we all agreed to make money (create wealth) for the company was the benefits that were offered in the pay package. Those benefits are part of the reimbursement for our labors.

Over the years our labors have been reaping less and less pay and benefits even though productivity has risen and wealth has grown. The wealth has been concentrating at the top. Over the years those who have accrued the most wealth have bought (through lobbying) the government so as to keep that wealth.

Our country suffers, our countrymen suffers. Bernie's not giving anything, he wants to make sure we get what we've earned.

P.S. Didn't care about getting fired, was handing in my resignation within a month to move to a different part of the country anyways. Just gave me a month off to ready for the move and spend time with loved ones. win, win
