E-mail from Kamala Harris campaign on protecting Roe v. Wade

"Outlawing access to abortion -- including in cases of rape or incest.

Threatening to punish doctors who provide abortion care with up to 99 years of jail time.

XXXX, this isn't a scene from The Handmaid's Tale. This is happening in Alabama -- in our country -- in the year 2019.

Alabama just passed legislation banning abortions at every stage of pregnancy. Doctors performing abortions could face up to 99 years in prison, and the law includes no exceptions for rape or incest.

This is a blatant attack on Roe v. Wade. It is a direct attack on women across our country. Restricting access to safe, legal abortion puts women’s lives at risk.

We cannot afford to wring our hands. We need to fight back now, raising our voices together to say we won’t be dragged backward and putting our collective power to work.

Here’s how we can fight back:

Click here to split a donation to abortion rights groups on the front lines of this fight today. Take action today to defend access to safe, legal abortion in our country.

Your donation today will benefit the following organizations that are leading the fight to defend women’s rights and access to health care:

The Yellowhammer Fund provides funding for anyone seeking care at one of Alabama's three abortion clinics and will help with other barriers to access (travel, lodging, etc.).

The Clinic Vest Project provides free clinic escort vests to groups that service facilities that support the full range of reproductive health options including safe and legal abortion.

ARC Southeast helps Southerners and their families navigate the pathways to access safe, compassionate, and affordable reproductive care by providing financial and logistical support and building power in our communities through advocacy, education, and leadership development.

The National Network of Abortion Funds builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have an abortion and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.

These anti-choice bills in states like Georgia, Ohio, and Alabama are a focused, targeted attack led by right-wing groups hell-bent on overturning Roe v. Wade and outlawing abortion completely in this country.

Defending reproductive freedom means standing up and empowering women to make informed decisions with the support, guidance, and compassionate care of a doctor -- without interference from the state.

If you are sick and tired of Republican attacks on women’s rights to their own health decisions, join me today in supporting the abortion rights organizations on the front lines of this fight. Add a donation today to benefit the Yellowhammer Fund, the Clinic Vest Project, ARC Southeast, and the National Network of Abortion Funds.

We won’t go backward. Keep fighting.

— Kamala Harris"
