I caught Beto being interviewed on MSNBC. It was almost over so I didn't get much content. But the only thing I could think about was that he hadn't shaved that day. Is that a good idea?

(13,783 posts)... watch MSNBC a lot so I didn't know his name, although he was familiar. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure it was actually an interview. It might have been a clip of him talking solo.

Beto's rolled up sleeves might bother some as well. And don't forget "Earhairgate".

(11,628 posts)And Beto has to go commando on his arms; makes for more effective arm flapping. Beto inspires some interesting threads that's for sure. I think this one is hilarious although I'm sure LAS14 didn't intend it that way. At least it isn't mean spirited like the ear hair one.
I'll just leave this here:

(146,324 posts)It is nearly 50 years to the day since I last shaved my beard. In those 50 years, I have saved approximately 5 minutes per day by not scraping the natural growth of hair off my face with a sharp instrument.
That is 91250 minutes saved over half a century. Just a hair less than 1521 hours. Almost 63 days. Just over 2 months saved by not shaving my face.
Think about that.
And that's a significant number of cuts I have not made on my face that needed a bit of toilet tissue stuck to them.
I highly recommend not shaving.
My question to shavers: What do you really look like?

(146,324 posts)My barber shortens it, along with my hair. They are cut in a way that lets them grow out and still look OK. When first cut, I look like an older college professor. Four months later, I look like Santa.
I do trim my moustache to the margin of my upper lip every week or so, with barber scissors. I shampoo it all daily in the shower.

(25,586 posts)I have to shave or its just a bunch of sad, sparse, straggly hairs clinging to my cheeks. I have a nice thick ginger goatee but anything higher than that is just a pitiful disaster.

You also save a fair bit of money not shaving, aye? Decent razors and shaving cream seem like it would add up.

(43,049 posts)A new political medium was introduced in the campaign: televised presidential debates. In the first of four such debates Nixon appeared pale, with a five o'clock shadow, in contrast to the photogenic Kennedy.[100] Nixon's performance in the debate was perceived to be mediocre in the visual medium of television, though many people listening on the radio thought that Nixon had won.[103] Nixon narrowly lost the election; Kennedy won the popular vote by only 112,827 votes (0.2 percent).[100]
Many of us remember the talking heads having too much to talk about Nixon's beard, and I suspect that even though the unshaven look has become trendy in some circles lately, many people still consider it just sloppy.

My hubby has a big, long, beautiful red beard and I love it. Over the past few years grey has started to set in and it's satisfying symmetrical.
He cares for his beard much like you do yours, except he trims it himself. It's amusing to watch. As he watches television, he sorts through his beard seeking split ends. He carefully snips each one with tiny silver scissors. Every few months he'll even out areas that have grown longer than the rest, but never takes off much. It's about mid-chest length.
Even better (for me) is he doesn't care that I don't shave my legs. We are a happily hairy couple, lol!
Yay for beards! Yay for not shaving!

(146,324 posts)bring myself to let mine get that long. I deal with clients I have never met before from time to time, and a chest-length beard would get in the way of the interactions, I think. They'd focus on that, instead of what I'm telling them, I'm afraid.
So, my white full beard varies from about 1.5" in length to about 4". Then, I get it cut back down to the 1.5" length by my long-time barber. I do time it so it's at its full length around Christmas, though. I get lots of stares and smiles from young children because of it.
