No, Beto O'Rourke did not dismiss veterans and the elderly
By Ciara O'Rourke on Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at 12:38 p.m.

...

According to ProPublica’s list of the legislation O’Rourke sponsored during 2017-2018, he backed six bills related to veterans, including the Get Veterans a Better Doctor Now Act and the Enhanced Veteran Healthcare Act of 2017.

During O’Rourke’s failed bid to oust Ted Cruz from the U.S. Senate, the Texas Tribune asked both lawmakers what three legislative accomplishments they were most proud of.

"The O’Rourke campaign passed along three measures that the El Paso Democrat saw signed into law by Trump," the Tribune reported, including two bills related to veterans and service members. "O’Rourke was the primary sponsor of the Honor our Commitment Act, which expanded mental health care through the VA to veterans with ‘other-than-honorable’ discharges from the military. The measure was included in an omnibus spending bill in March."

The Tribune notes a blog post O’Rourke wrote earlier on March 2017 describing veteran suicides.

"This figure shows an unacceptable gap in health care coverage for our nation’s most vulnerable veterans," O’Rourke said in the blog post on Medium.

Beto is loved and respected by veterans because he has fought hard for them. C-span has some great videos of him questioning people in committees that he has served on when in Congress. He is so knowledgeable on the issues and is very solution driven. So professional and thorough!

I replied and the other person deleted their posts. When I noticed that they had deleted their posts I deleted my reply to them in part because it didn't make sense without the comment I was replying to. I am also highly suspicious of the intentions of anyone who comes onto a thread about a candidate they clearly do NOT like just to make off topic posts that are obviously intended to instigate a negative reaction. That's a common method used to try to get people banned from discussion forums, and is frequently a coordinated effort. So that is why my comment is self-deleted. I suspect the other person deleted theirs out of fear of being reported for attacking/bashing candidates or disrupting a thread or whatever else one might get reported for in such a situation, but I don't really know.

I was just wondering. I've been critical of other candidates but I've never made personal attacks on them. I've never tried to derail threads either. I just don't see the point of doing those things.

There is nothing wrong with discussing a topic and disagreeing with a candidate or not liking something they do or say and talking about it on a thread about that issue. I welcome that kind of discussion.
