Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forum15 Democratic candidates now endorse a full debate devoted to climate change, including Biden,
Sanders, Warren, O'Rourke, Castro, Inslee, and others.
When will the DNC listen to the candidates and schedule one? With 12 debates scheduled (including some double-debates, till the field is winnowed down), the DNC can't argue that it doesn't have the time to devote to this life-and-death issue. Perez's most recent excuse was that it wasn't "practical," and that a President "must be able to multitask" -- which is perfectly true but makes no sense as an answer to the question.
And, no, I'm not going to stop talking about this till the DNC changes its position.

Bidens comment Tuesday made him the 15th Democratic candidate to endorse a debate focused specifically on climate change, a project of the Sunrise Movement and other green groups that has been championed by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, whos built his presidential campaign around the climate issue.

Its just not practical, Perez said. As someone who worked for Barack Obama, the most remarkable thing about him was his tenacity to multitask, and a president must be able to multitask.
Inslee, however, has continued to pressure the DNC to host a climate debate. He has complained that the party threatened to punish any candidate who appears in an unofficial debate including, say, one on climate change hosted by environmental groups by excluding them from the official Democratic debates.
The Democratic Party has an opportunity to host a debate and to send a clear message that we are the party of climate solutions, Inslee said in a statement. Im calling on Chairman Perez to reconsider his decision, and on every 2020 candidate to clearly voice their opposition to the DNCs decision to silence a climate debate.

You have my word that I will do everything I can to make sure our candidates are able to debate all of the critical issues during this primary and that we're doing that as fairly as we can. I understand why people feel strongly about this, and I do too.

The @DNC will not be holding entire debates on a single issue area we want to make sure voters have the ability to hear from candidates on all the issues.

I have personally told media partners seeking to host a 2020 primary debate how important it is for climate change to be debated during each and every debate frankly, it is my opinion that it is an issue that should have been more prominent during the 2016 cycle.

I know and agree that climate change is an existential threat I saw it firsthand today when I visited Hurricane Michael survivors in Florida.
