The poll is useless at this stage of the campaign, and primarily ranks by name recognition.
Why do this? It just adds to the divisiveness.

(2,461 posts)You can't deny that.
Also, the poll is from Morning Consult.
The video explores Greenwald's teasing of the numbers, but the numbers are the numbers.
Yes, early polls are horse-race hype, but hype is part of a campaign.
Anything else I need to explain?

(146,317 posts)How about leaving our Presidential primary race to those who can vote? Hillary Clinton is not running. Your post has a very strong bias toward Bernie Sanders. It's also based on an online poll, and doesn't actually talk about what the poll was really about. It's deceptive. Deceptive posts about favorite candidates are just divisive.
Yours is not even the first post regarding that poll, but it contains far less information, and is purely a Sanders advocacy video.
We're trying to work out the US Democratic Primary here. You're not being helpful in any way with that.

Sorry, but don't assume I'm non-committal about such things. I'm not. I don't like manipulative, divisive postings on DU. Not one bit. Not from anyone, and not for questionable reasons.

(2,461 posts)First I saw, as I get alerts from 'status coup'. Throughout the day, just about every video blogger (or whatever they call themselves) from the progressive side reported on this survey. How RealClearPolitcs interpreted that as a poll is something I don't know, but I have come to consider their site legitimate.
Anyways, I apologize for getting caught up in semantics.

People remember how he didn't think our vote was important enough to go after in 2016. We also remember the "we have to stop practicing identity politics" line.
Fortunately we have many "identity politicians" running this time (POCs and women) who understand that working class whites, pandered to by one particular candidate in 2016, are a demographic identity as much as working class AAs, working class Latinx, working class Asian Americans, working class women and on and on and on.

(10,749 posts)So far, there are 12 more or less mainstream Democratic candidates.
Is that 2 to the 12th combinations? Or is that permutations?
Whatever.
That's a lot of pairings.
Add in the demographics - age, gender, income, geography, race.
Add in the issues.
It is beyond ridiculous to even discuss these things, much less report on them, at this stage. Sanders leads Harris among African-American men between the ages of 18 and 35, urban, in red states. But Harris leads Sanders (and Warren) but trails Gabbard and Klobuchar among older Hispanic men in rural Iowa. Klobuchar leads all candidates among white men who also eat salad with a form and yell at their employees. Of course, I'm making this up. And so are the commentators at this point.

(28,270 posts)Bernie raised 10 million dollars in one week from over 300,000 people.
No PACs, people. He also has 600,000 dollars in automatic donations a month coming in.
Also more than one million people have volunteered to support Bernie's 2020 campaign.
Any other candidate that did this in the first week would be immediately declared the front runner and the one to beat on DU.
But not Bernie. Gee I wonder why?
Everybody here sees polls reflecting the enormous nationwide popularity of a candidate that can do what Bernie has done out of the gate and cry FAKE NEWS!

POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE

Morning Consult is setting a new standard for survey
research.
On a daily basis, Morning Consult interviews over
5,000 registered voters across the United States.
Along with 2020 presidential election data, Political
Intelligence tracks the approval and electability for all
governors, senators, House members, the President,
and more at the national, state, and congressional
district level.
Each week, this report will use that data to deliver key
new insights on where voters stand

(1,157 posts)Following a midterm that saw many POCs and women taking office?
Grand for some, I guess.
Bernie, for what it's worth, is leaning towards a younger woman as VP:
https://www.mediaite.com/online/bernie-sanders-says-vp-pick-will-be-a-woman-hours-after-saying-people-shouldnt-consider-gender/
I think we would look for somebody who is maybe not of the same gender that I am, and maybe somebody might be a couple of years younger than me, Sanders replied, adding and somebody who can take the progressive banner as vice-president and carry it all over this country to help us with our agenda, and help us to rally the American people.
So even Bernie is saying that Biden would be far from his first choice for VP...

(2,461 posts)Ya, I'm hoping Kamala can overcome the gaffs she has made. I would so like to see Elizabeth Warren shine in the next administration.
Question: Has it always been the case that the VP is the international ambassador? Or is that just a new thing? For a face for international relations, who would be the best?
Hoping its a dove!
The biggest female names (aside from RBG woot!!!) who have wielded power in my life time are Rice and Clinton. I would prefer to see a kinder, gentler representation. Ideas?

(2,461 posts)I forgot Greenwald is toxic around here. This one is from John Iadorola from the Young Turks. I'm guessing some here aren't too impressed with them either, but they are considered pretty tame and fair by progressives.
And yes, I know its early and all of that, but, as a person who supports the progressive democratic movement worldwide, and is terrified by the alternative that is popping up like bad acne everywhere (including Canada) I'd like to just get a bad meme out of the conversation from the start: the one that says Sanders can't win POC vote, that he only appeals to white males.
Here, the host goes through the survey by page, with very little bias, considering the source.

(14,565 posts)This is base normalcy. If Sanders is ahead of Harris overall, then why shouldn't he have greater numbers among African-Americans?
I think too many people look at the Democratic Underground ratio between Harris and Sanders, and somehow conclude it should be playing out 5/2 in her favor everywhere.
That is not the real world. Not right now. It may get there. But you can't expect someone who is polling at 9 or 11% in so many states to have demographic numbers in her favor.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
floppyboo
(2,461 posts)No question Biden should, as front runner, have more white male supporters than Sanders.
This can all change. It's, IMO, important to look at the trajectories. Who would have thought Sanders would win 45% in the primaries with only 5% name recognition in 2015? Miracles can happen! Is media exposure going to have little consequence again in determining the strength of grassroots movements? They are going to have to get real, real fast, if they don't want to discredit themselves again.

(32,712 posts)if that's true in general, I wouldn't be surprised because there is a coordinated and ongoing effort to influence black voters into not trusting Harris. I assume those same forces are trying to steer voters towards Bernie? I asked a good friend of mine about Kamala--her response was that she didn't know much about her, except that she heard KH had only recently started to claim being black, etc, etc. I told her that was NOT true--that KH went to Howard U and was an AKA, etc. but it seemed like it may have fallen on deaf ears. I don't know where she got that information from, but at this point, all I can do is shake my head and think 2020 will go the same way that 2016 did.
