Beto O'Rourke hits the campaign trail in new teaser for HBO documentary

Los Angeles Times

Beto O’Rourke hits the road in the upcoming HBO documentary “Running With Beto,” which released a trailer on Thursday night.

The movie traces the relatively unknown congressman's grassroots 2018 Senate race in which he sought to become the first Texas Democrat to win a statewide election in almost 25 years.

Director David Modigliani embedded his crew with the O'Rourke campaign for a year as the El Paso congressman staged a bold attempt to unseat Republican incumbent Ted Cruz. The doc recounts the best-funded grassroots campaign in U.S. Senate history, as O’Rourke visited all 254 of the state’s counties in two years, used social media in unconventional ways and refused to accept PAC money or corporate contributions.

Unless it casts him in an unfavorable light, it can only help solidify his brand as a hard driving, inclusive campaigner.

This is the type of thing campaigns would spend any amount to get, but which isn't something money can buy.

Note: I'm very undecided. Except for bs. If there were an "anyone but bernie" choice, that would be me.

Still, I like beto. I like kamilla. I like Warren. I like Biden. I'll probably contribute to all of them to be sure they get into the debates. But by the time MA gets around to voting, the die will likely be cast.

I've always liked Joey Biden, a Tri-stater's affection from southern NJ. Have a girl crush on Kamala Harris. Respect and like Liz Warren. Like Booker's upbeat message, too.

As for Beto O'Rourke? He intrigues me. I really want to see what he can do on the campaign trail.

I think now is his best time to strike, if he's going to. I guess he could run for a congressional seat maybe and go from there. Just maybe a Senate seat. But his currency is large right now, and being from El Paso gives him a unique seat.

Phil Mudd ( former CIA/FBI ) mentioned this the other night on CNN...wouldn’t it be brilliant for Biden and Beto to break tradition and come out together as a team.

He's got that 'it' quality, that lightening in a bottle touch. Is that enough? I honestly don't know but from his performance in Texas, he can certainly excite people and raise gobs and gobs of money.

Think this documentary is a great idea. Plus, I really like the tag line: Run as if you have nothing to lose.

Yeah, I'd like to see someone act on that!

He was very key to gaining us 2 of those seats we now have a House majority with. One of which is my own Representative Lizzie Fletcher.. for the first time since George HW Bush sat this House district in the 60’s we have a Democratic Party member in it!
