Trump: Harris 'given too much credit' for attack on Biden

President Trump said Saturday that he thought Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was "given too much credit" following a blistering exchange with Joe Biden during Thursday's Democratic presidential debate.

“I thought that she was given too much credit,” Trump said of Harris during a news conference in Japan. “He didn't do well, certainly, and maybe the facts weren't necessarily on his side."

Trump went on to say he thought the exchange between the two top tier presidential candidates "wasn't that outstanding," adding that he believed Biden "was probably hit harder than he should have been hit."

The president maintained that he felt the exchange was overblown, adding that he didn't believe Biden's response was "great."

If Biden would have called Harris a “nasty woman” and Harris called Biden an “old has been”, I bet that would have impressed Trump more.

it's an effort to raise Sen. Harris' profile, simply by mentioning her. He fears having to go against Biden, who has probably the best chance of winning back the blue wall, and would much rather face Harris, who he can demonize to his heart's content.

I know all about the saying that refers to being careful what you wish for, but Trump shoots first, and thinks later, if he ever gets around to that second step.

Trump has been targetting Biden openly for the past couple of months, unprovoked. He'll tweet about him.

He's not tweeting about Kamala Harris.

I think the exchange in the OP was probably elicited by a question from a reporter. That's probably why Trump mentioned Harris.

Sat Jun 29, 2019, 10:41 AM
Jun 2019

but, admittedly, that's not in his nature. I predict that if the polls next week show Harris gaining ground, and Biden losing ground, that Trump will change his focus to her. We saw that with the 2016 GOP primary process, after Trump shot down "Low Energy Jeb" and "Little Marco", he turned his attention to "Lyin' Ted." And when he went over the top for a first ballot victory, he quickly pivoted to "Crazy Bernie" and "Crooked Hillary", keeping the latter insult constantly handy after she secured her nomination.

He knows he has the power to elevate someone in the Democratic Party just by attacking them. He only ignores them when he doesn't see them as relevant to his strategy, if you can call it that.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Harris has risen almost exactly as much as Biden has slumped. Yes, those are early polls, conducted quickly with smaller numbers, and thus a larger margin of error, but by this point next week, we will know if Harris is truly rising and Biden is indeed wounded.

While it will be continually tempting to Trump to keep up with the "Sleepy Joe" slur, he probably knows the old maxim about not interfering with your enemies when they are in the process of destroying themselves. He'll be content to let Harris and Swalwell make Biden look like a senile bigot.

I have been saying the the buffoon wants to run against Biden, here is more proof of that, and we need to listen to those comments because there is a reason repubs want Biden on the Democratic ticket, and if we don't listen we will miss all the signs.
