CNN will hold live draw for 2020 Democratic debate lineup

(CNN)CNN will conduct a live draw to determine which night each candidate will appear in the highly anticipated Democratic presidential primary debates airing later this month on the network.

Dana Bash, Don Lemon and Jake Tapper will moderate the Democratic National Committee-sanctioned debates over two nights, July 30-31, from Detroit, said a network spokesperson. Both nights will air live exclusively on CNN and CNN en Español. The debates will also be simulcast on CNN International.

CNN's Debates will also stream live without requiring log-in to a cable provider, exclusively to CNN.com, CNN's apps for iOS and Android and via CNNgo apps for Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, and Android TV.

The draw to determine the lineup for each night will air live on July 18 in the 8 p.m. ET hour on CNN, said the network spokesperson, who noted additional details of the draw will be released in the coming days.

Those are the match ups I wanna see, and I'm guessin most Democratic voters do too... let the second tier candidates fight for the scraps. Maybe one or two ascend to the top tier, to replace those who might descend to the bottom tier. Makes perfect sense to me... sorry if you don't like it.

It's unfortunate that the DNC has to bend over backwards to appease everyone because heaven forbid they get falsely accused of """rigging""" the nomination against someone again, but that's what we have to put up with thanks to a certain candidate.

I like the concept of a live draw. They should have two drawing. The first will determine the debate grouping (which candidates are in each group). The second would determine which group goes first. All drawings would be blind, or done with lottery style balls.

I really wish that some more of the candidates that don't have a prayer would drop out, but looks like that is not happening fast enough.

still be shenanigans involved. The fairest way would be to make the candidates draw a number from a hat (ranging from 1 to 20), then use a lotto number machine that has 20 balls in it. Lol. Drawing names from a hat could be controversial if the name cards look or feel different.

then come back with a similar process to determine which debate group goes first. The second drawing would involve 20 balls, with the first group owning balls 1-10 and the second owning balls 11-20. The group whose ball number comes out first debates on the first night, the other group gets the second night.
