Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
Hickenlooper: Vast majority of campaign's problem 'was me'
By ALEXANDRA JAFFE
PERRY, Iowa (AP) Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said Sunday the vast majority of the problem with the campaign was me, but promised to stay in the Democratic presidential race and become a better candidate. That is despite calls from his own staff for him to exit the presidential race and run for Senate instead.
Certainly the vast majority of the problem with the campaign was me not being as good of a messenger as I need to be, but you cant switch or trade in a new candidate, he said in an interview with a local reporter after a town hall in Perry, Iowa.
Hickenlooper acknowledged that theres just a bunch of skills that dont come naturally to me that are essential to campaigning like being a really good debater, being real smooth with wealthy donors.
But Im committed to growing and working and getting better, he added.

OP
We need him in the Senate. His humility and character is much needed there.

It means you've allowed some of the ick into your soul. It's okay to deal with wealthy donors, but don't apologize for not relating to them. It makes you more appealing and relatable to voters. Unfortunate.

I've been to several high dollar fundraisers with him; he's just as quirky.

(89,252 posts)7. but he isn't connecting with regular voters. and he blamed his staff at first
this is more likely damage control to have an excuse to stay in longer.
and Pete Buttigieg has wealthy donors and he is not a smooth talker.

Democrats need as many swing state senators and their allies as possible.

It's past time for Hickenlooper to go away.
