BY NIALL STANAGE - 07/08/19 06:00 AM EDT
The first debates are done, second-quarter fundraising totals are rolling in and the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination is intensifying.
Here are The Hills latest rankings of the top contenders.
1. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)
Warren is not leading in any national polls yet. But she is on the rise and her message on the stump is resonating louder than anyone elses.
The Massachusetts senator also appears to be on the brink of supplanting Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as the standard-bearer of the left a development that would fundamentally reshape the race.
Warren was the clear winner of the first night of debates in Miami late last month, even though her performance was overshadowed by a more controversial clash the following evening.

(7,541 posts)I like her. Many don't know that Harry Truman more or less designed the modern federal government we know. Roosevelt expanded the power of the Executive, but did nothing to expand the federal government's ability to fill those new shoes. This was left to Harry.
If I had to choose one person in the current field to bring the Executive Branch to heel it would be Warren. I would like to see a house cleaning in many areas of Justice and the FBI (I still want to see those agents from the NY FBI Office removed and stripped of their pensions and benefits). I want to see the Administration of Fear dismantled...I want to see Homeland Security abolished and the Patriot Act repealed. It's time for a change. She has the determination to do it.
And for the record, I'm a lefty. Warren is not, regardless of The Hill's labeling her as such. But then The Hill is a discredited POS mouthpiece of a billionaire that thinks more businessmen should be allowed to run things.
