The senator far exceeded expectations after forswearing fundraisers.

Elizabeth Warrens presidential campaign announced Monday she raised $19.1 million in the second quarter of the year, more than tripling her first-quarter total despite holding no fundraisers.
The haul far exceeded expectations: Warren surpassed both Bernie Sanders ($18 million) and Kamala Harris ($12 million) and came close to Joe Biden ($21.5 milllion). Her outpacing of Sanders is particularly notable, given the army of small-dollar donors he amassed in 2016 and their similarly progressive stances.
The eye-popping total is a validation for Warren after months of second-guessing from Washington strategists who questioned the wisdom of publicly vowing not to hold fundraisers or do call time with wealthy donors during the primary.
The Warren campaign has argued that forswearing fundraisers has been critical to her recent rise in the polls. The freed-up time, staffers argue, has allowed Warren to do 107 town halls, travel to 23 states plus Puerto Rico, wait through her signature "selfie lines" after every event, and dive deep into policy. Warren's personal calls to small-dollar donors and the resulting web videos of some of those calls have also become a hit on Twitter as random progressives announce that "Elizabeth Warren called me!"

(10,879 posts)I believe they are the most ideologically aligned of our top tier candidates. Therefore, they are swimming in the same lane looking for voters.
I think that eventually one will need to drop out and endorse the other.
If not, they will split the most progressive wing.
Harris will be splitting the next level down.
Lets call it the left of center.
Shes in that lane with all of the non Bidens.
Biden will eventually be alone as the only true center left with any real chance when Booker, Amy, Bennet leave.
So, what I am projecting (pulling out of my behind) is that going into Super Tuesday, we will only have 3 still standing.
Biden
Harris
Either Warren or Sanders (but not both).

Even better is Warren-Inslee. Both coasts, high competence leaders.

(25,183 posts)I know she had to take a lot of leftover money from her Senate campaign to add to her first quarter totals.
Clearly, she is a force to be reckoned with.

(49,005 posts)As I've posted elsewhere here, the other candidates would've had to raise nearly $30 million last quarter to beat the amount Biden would've raised if he'd been raising money for the entire quarter at that same per-day average rate.
I've seen lots of articles about Mayor Pete's total for the quarter beating Biden's, but Biden was raising an average of $60,000/day more than Pete.

(31,261 posts)The thing more important than days is the average daily pace in the last 30 days, I bet Warren blows Biden away in that category, if so, she has the momentum and can gain more in the debate this month.
