(2,753 posts)Beto at the top of ticket will help that candidate over the finish line. If we put Texas in play we won't need to worry as much about the Ohio. Why should Beto drop out when he is in the top 5 nationally in polls today (Harvard/Harris).

(67,782 posts)....15% in any other state (maybe a few). He's at 2.8% nationally, 1% in Iowa, 1.35 in New Hampshire, 2.5% in Nevada, and 1.8% in South Carolina. That means going into Super Tuesday he'll have zero delegates.
I like the guy, was rooting hard for him against Cruz, and think he'd give Cornyn a run for his money.

(185 posts)She is my favorite of the candidates running and it irks me to always see her discounted when people try to push Beto to challenge her.
Our best chance of taking the Texas senate seat is for the presidential campaign to put resources and time into Texas, which Beto will do as our nominee.
And if those asking for Beto to run for Senate are so positive on his chances, then they should be equally positive of his chances for winning Texas as presidential nominee--which would be game over for Trump. Everyone could go to bed early on election night.
And it is also interesting how everyone is so 'concerned' about Beto and the Senate but not about Warren in Massachusetts with a Republican governor who would appoint until the special and Republican Scott Brown being elected as senator from Mass not so long ago.

It's a freaking anti-Beto jihad. Why? And why him only?

(2,113 posts)Texans know that Beto and Julian's twin worked together on legislation to protect asylum seekers. He will never be forgiven. Texas loves Beto.

(25,183 posts)You're conflating Castro's schooling of O'Rourke on the debate stage (a legitimate debating tactic) with the dirty trick that Harris pulled on Biden?

(2,753 posts)of repealing section 1325 (which many other candidates signed onto including Warren and most of the night 2 candidates from the June debates) would easily brand Democrats the party of open borders.
There's a reason most Texans are supporting Beto and not Castro. Beto showed up in every one of Texas's counties and took the chance on that Senate race that the Castros's didn't.

(25,183 posts)Harris' position on busing was the same as Biden's, wasn't it?
Both Castro and Harris got noticed, while both of their targets sunk in the polls. I guess they really should be conflated, I stand corrected.

(2,753 posts)Beto is at 3-4% in multiple national polls released in the last 2 days and Castro is back at 1%. Similar situation for Biden/Harris.

(25,183 posts)However, any money raised right after a debate is for keeps. If the candidate spends it wisely, then the bump becomes a trend, if not, then it was just a bump.

(185 posts)And his misleading attack during the 1st debate didn't play well in Texas. Beto and Julian's brother worked together in Congress on a legislation proposal to revise 1325--Beto is very familiar with 1325. If Castro has a different policy position, fine (though I don't agree with Castro on his idea) but it was BS for him to use his likely pre-planned zinger that Beto didn't do his homework. Beto knows immigration likely better than most other candidates and has a very comprehensive immigration plan.
