Rep. Tim Ryan still considering presidential run

Akron Beacon Journal

Rep. Tim Ryan says he’s still deciding whether he will join the crowded Democratic presidential candidate field, especially after Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown decided against running.

“I’m looking very, very closely at it,” Ryan told about 175 people at an Akron Press Club event Monday at Quaker Station. ”... I felt like Sherrod was talking about the issues that many of us are concerned about with workers and falling behind. I’d be lying if I did not say what happened to General Motors a few weeks back, did not have a very profound effect on me.”

GM closed its Lordstown assembly plant last week. Ryan lamented that 16,000 people once worked there and even more were employed at suppliers.

“We’ve seen the economy change here, and I don’t hear anyone talking about it in a way that’s going to position us for the future,” Ryan said.

Ryan, D-Niles, said he will make his presidential decision within a few weeks.

But president... don’t think so! It’s sad how much the Republicans hate and I mean hate him in N. E. Ohio.
