Demanding Medicare. Someone should inform them Medicare only covers 80% and you need Health Insurance to cover the rest. At least Insurance companies have come up with sero cost plans, but you still have copays and a pretty good deductable on Hospitalization.

Also Medicare is not free, you pay for that, too. The ACA would gradually take us into Single Payer.

Unless you're now paying almost nothing for ACA coverage, $6,000 more for Medicare Supplement etc. is way too much. If you just looked at one company's prices and coverages, you're making an extremely expensive mistake. Use your googling skills and the Medicare website to find out which company and plan covers the most for you for the least money. Too many people make the mistake of automatically going with AARP/United Healthcare which is by by far the most expensive of all the many choices out there.

Thu Aug 1, 2019, 03:28 PM
Aug 2019

It takes some time, but you can do it on the Medicare.gov website under myMedicare.gov. Your drugs should already be in their system. If not, or if something is outdated or missing, you can correct it. Then click to search through all the available plans to see which cover all of them. THEN you can click on your meds under each plan to see which tier you'd be in and what each plan pays for them. You can be out $5,000 using one plan and still be in initial coverage under another, so it's worthwhile to take the time to do it. If you've already done it and this is the best you can do, I'm very, very sorry because that's horrendous.

two different clients, one of whom works for BCBSNJ and another who is a health insurance advisor to unions. In every part D there comes a point when I'm on my own for at least $5,000.
The problem is, when on government coverage like Medicare, I am no longer eligible for the coupons that pay for most of the cost of my meds. You are only eligible if you are on private insurance. That goes for the medication I am currently onand every alternative on the market.

Thu Aug 1, 2019, 08:28 AM
Aug 2019

that Medicare is free. And it's not just the uninformed. It's one of those things that people just don't worry about or think about until they have to join or navigate through it all for others. And to be fully covered, you have to pay more for supplemental and drug coverages. All that said, it's still less than private coverage.

Bet few know that Medicare premiums come out of social security checks. And medical costs are growing faster than SS colas. This all shrinks personal disposable income.

It's an immensely complex issue. Going from a for profit to a single payer universal plan is a giant leap. Especially since for profit companies have grown so big and have tentacles in place.

IMHO, an incremental approach is much more realistic and would lead to less disruption. People in general are more scared when you go from 0 to 60 than when you gradually accelerate.

who had the first question and didn't waste any time to go after Harris.

NO ONE went after Obama, they went after Biden on the issues where Biden was involved and failed to do the right things. This false statements that the candidates went after Obama are the ones moving the conversation on something that is not real.

The senator who was invited to Brian Williams last night after the debate started it, then Joy Reid who walked it back after Lawrence pointed out that it was not true, and this morning the senator walked it back as well. Micheal Moore, DeBlasio, Lawrence O'Donnell also pointed out that it was not true, I don't know why people here want to continue the conversation on something that is not true.

We must be objective, the best candidate must be elected, and in my opinion, Biden is not it, neither is Harris, or Yang, etc. The winners last night were Booker and Gabbard, and I am not pushing for either, but objectivity will win at the end.

52. You may call it anything you want (bull), but the immigration deal from Obama and Biden was not good
Thu Aug 1, 2019, 08:45 AM
Aug 2019

I voted for Obama twice, and would vote for him again, or Michelle, or any other Democrat, but I am not a fanatic and it is a well known fact that during Obama the number of deportations was the highest of any administration, some warranted and some not.

If one cannot discuss what the people we support did well and the things they did not do well then we are in trouble. Objectivity will help us find the best candidate, accepting the fact that Biden fumbled a lot last night, and yes he did better last night than during the first debate, but that is still keeping the bat low, not at a presidential level or one that can challenge the creature.

Like Booker said, you cannot choose to associate to Obama only when it is convenient, you take the good and the bad. Biden also attacked Booker who had not attacked Biden at all and was trying very hard to stay out of the fight with anyone until Biden attacked him. What was it that Booker told him? "You're dipping into the Kool-Aid and don't know the flavor."

They did not attack Obamacare, they attacked the rest of the health industry, including pharma, and lets face it, Obamacare is not perfect, it is not what Obama intended because the republicans did not allow it, but in no time did any of the candidates attack Obamacare directly. We all have to admit that what we have as healthcare is not perfect and needs a lot of help, and Universal Healthcare is what will end with the corruption in the industry, Biden is not for universal healthcare.

The gift to the creature will be if Biden does become the nominee, the republicans know so much about Biden that it won't be pretty, and from the fumbles Biden had last night when attacked it is easy to predict what will happen when the vile of the creature is turned against him in full force. You have to wonder why the republicans are making such a big deal about Biden, they have already nominated him, they want him and we are all falling for that. They are trying to make the illusion that they are afraid of Biden, but they are not, they want him, they want him really bad.

The moderators set up the fight and most of the candidates fell for it, although Booker did not and tried to warn the rest, Biden was asked the first question and he went after Harris immediately, that set the tone.

Very disingenuously and very stupidly as a desperate attempt to propel their own candidacies. It will backfire--as most obviously opportunistic actions usually do (cough, Gillibrand).

In so doing, they have handed more ammo to Trump's campaign than they could have created themselves.

There is a reason why Obama has a 97% approval rating and is considered the best President of our lifetime. That doesn't mean his policies don't deserve critique and revision, but they sure as hell don't deserve rightwing-level attack that does nothing more than give cover for Trump's horrendous policies.

Then Biden is good to go, he is definitely trying to keep the status quo alive, everything else that 70% of the country wants, like Universal Healthcare, immigration reform, free education, etc. (progressive) is no longer important.

Michael Moore had an observation, he claims that the majority of the current Democratic base is made up of people between 18 years old to 55 or so, and those people want Universal Healthcare, free education, etc...and he fears that if we do not get a progressive candidate that many of those will not go out and vote, and the creature will get a second term...I wonder if he is right...

Seems crazy to diss the ACA when it's helped so many people and is a strong foundation to build on. Is it because Biden's building on it and doesn't want it done away with?

And, the Blue Wave Midterms that got us around 40 Red seats Flipped to Blue was mainly won on Healthcare(ACA).. with Nancy Pelosi's encouragement. And, she helped President Obama get it passed. She must be a little perturbed.

I also think this fetishiizing of Obama is silly. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama himself agrees. He was in power for eight years, not everything he did looks pristine four years later and candidates should feel free to point out what they would do differently without being treated as apostates, so long as the criticisms are reasonable.

Biden for saying he'd put health care company CEOs in jail. Regardless of who said it, many business people watch CNBC everyday.

Between the Democrats attacking Democrats and the MSM pundits shining a light on their stupidity, I cannot even watch political debates right now. Democrats need to sit back and decide who the enemy is, and just to give them a jump start: THE ENEMY ARE TRUMP AND THE REPUBLICANS! Their job is to take out tRump first and foremost. Please stay focused, for crying out loud! I have had enough and there is still a year and 3 months to go. I think it is called election fatigue.

They are not real debates. Just drama. There is no time for any depth on any issue. For entertainment purposes only

Didn’t like watching, but I would rather have people mull these things over now and factor them into their vote in the future. Joe needed the “practice” defending his record as VP. It is going to get tougher.

Unfortunately that is fine with his "base;" great in fact. Debates, however, will be watched by a much larger audience, There will be no unruly chanting which won't be quickly stifled. Trump didn't "win" 2016 on his debating skills and Hillary was remarkably patient (which she apparently now regrets). There's good reason for Trump to only speak at rallies packed by his chosen followers. Yes, Trump will be at his nastiest in a presidential debate, and his opponent will need to handle his craziness with calm and patience. I am far from a fan of Kamala Harris, but I must admit that she is the candidate I'd most like to see stand up to Trump.
