Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIf I were going to choose today.. it would be for someone who is not even in the run yet
Biden...for four years..because he has the experience and the connections to get our government back together hopefully from the drag through the mud we had the last 2 years..Problematic with my choice is that he has not declared yet.. so kind of a strange choice I guess..
I like Harris and my husband really likes Warren..
Ay Yi Yi.. that was tough... Get going Joe... choose to run and cut me loose..
Can you believe it?... time for the primary back and forth already..
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(22,880 posts)I love Joe too... listening to him reassure our allies.. was so comforting, that we can make our way back.. that this current President has not beaten down so badly that we will never be trusted again.. keeping my fingers crossed.. but I do have to say.. we have very deep bench and talented people..

(102,413 posts)Maybe not even until we've had some debates...
In all honesty, the issue this time around is not who is my personal favorite candidate because we have so many that I'd be perfectly fine with. The issue has to be who can effectively defeat Trump AND go on to make strong progress in turning around the damaging policies that Trump has instilled. It would be hard to argue that Biden would not be the leader on that score, but we shall see...

(3,275 posts)Of course, I think most of the democratic candidates would be good at debating Trump.

(17,055 posts)Amy Klobuchar sure is appealing to me. Don't get me wrong because I think we've got a good field but when I think about overall electability I think she's got what it takes.

(3,275 posts)If Biden did 4 or 8 years, then she could run with more name recognition. She is only in her 50s so she would have the relative youth to go with Biden's age.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(22,880 posts)Given Bidens age, I hope he does a Pelosi and sets a self imposed limit on 4 years.. and our Vice President can step in for the 8 years after that..

(10,843 posts)I think both would take the Trumpster to the cleaners in a General Election. But it remains to be seen if Biden jumps in (I suspect he will this time) and how both perform over the next 11 months. Grueling!
Biden will have to answer questions about Anita Hill and his penchant for his 'carefree' hands; he has a long policy/vote record to defend, too. Harris is already being peppered with questions about her record as a prosecutor, not being progressive enough.
So we shall see. I like Warren as well but I'm not convinced regarding her electability against the Trumpster. My attitude might change, however.
Which is why I'm clearly undecided.

(11,686 posts)will vote for the one who is. I will not give a third party a chance to take away Democrat votes. I will never belong to the tragedy of the Jill Stien hoax. If Bernie is the only choice even though he is truly third party he will be better than a Republican and only in that case I would vote third party.

(16,994 posts)and his recollections of what Joe has done and has to offer was very compelling. Foreign policy, bringing people together, climate change. He isnt endorsing anyone yet, but it was clear he thought the same things about Joesomeone who can offer consistency and restore global relations. They also mentioned his deep Democratic connections and that he is consistently No. 1 in the polls. Garcetti said hes talked to Joe and is pretty sure hes jumping in.
Im really liking Harris, too! Shes one of my Senators, and I really like her, but I am definitely falling for her more on the national stage. Too bad Michelle Obama is not running! Maybe some day...
