Biden's ideas for gun control, and how the NRA is already mischaracterizing them to attack him:

Politifact article from a few weeks ago:

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2019/jul/09/national-rifle-association/joe-biden-says-he-will-champion-ban-assault-weapon/

I'm guessing Biden is the Democratic candidate who worries the NRA most, so they're already trying to scare their members into believing Biden wants to ban all guns.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

his record and to this paragraph in his education plan:

https://joebiden.com/education/

Defeat the National Rifle Association – again – in order to make our schools safer. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about whether their kids will come home from school, and students shouldn’t have to sacrifice themselves for their friends days before graduation. We cannot let gun violence become an acceptable part of American life. Biden knows that arming teachers isn’t the answer; instead, we need rational gun laws. As President, he will secure passage of gun legislation to make our students safer, and he knows he can do it because he’s defeated the National Rifle Association twice before. He’ll begin by again championing legislation to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines – bans he authored in 1994. In the months ahead, he will release additional proposals to address the gun violence epidemic in our country.

As it says there, he'll be releasing additional proposals later.

Anyway, the NRA is worried not only about his record, and his plans, but his popularity and the likelihood that he'll be the nominee and will be able to beat Trump.

Much more radical gun control ideas from other candidates aren't likely to worry the NRA even half as much if they don't think those candidates have much chance of being elected.

They see Biden as a serious threat to their fight against gun control.

And he is.

on the NRA, not only for their complicity in countless mass murders, but also their funneling of 40 million dollars from Putin to the Republican Party.... it's now set up perfectly, and then for other Dem candidates to pile in too.

wanted to ban all guns.

I lived in upstate New York close to where Remington Arms is located most of Obama's time in office.. and employees who shopped where I worked would tell me about all the overtime working on keeping up production. Over Lies!

Ban Assault Guns! There's still plenty of guns to go around.

6. A DU poll....
Sat Aug 3, 2019, 11:54 PM
Aug 2019

....is about the least representative of the whole country as one could get.

Ryan’s spokesman cited a 2015 poll of gun owners by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic polling firm, conducted on behalf of two liberal groups: MoveOn.org Civic Action and the Center for American Progress. The poll surveyed 816 gun owners.

According to the poll, 24 percent of the respondents identified themselves as NRA members. That means of the total of 816 gun owners, 196 self-identified as NRA members.

Of all 816 gun owners, 83 percent responded that they supported a criminal background check for everyone who wants to buy a firearm.

For the 196 who said they were NRA members, the poll showed that 72 percent supported background checks.

12. I don't know the number you're asking about
Sun Aug 4, 2019, 11:28 AM
Aug 2019

I do know the vast majority of people, including members of the NRA want to see sensible gun laws, and comprehensive background checks which is exactly what is being called for. There seems to be an assumption on the left that every mass killer has got to be a member of the NRA. That is actually an unknown factor because the NRA will not release members names. I do know one thing. I believe about 38% of gun owners are Democrats, and if any of our candidates take a stance of a total ban on guns, and if they are the Democratic nominee, they will lose the presidential election. I would like to see a total ban on assault weapons, and if we leave the hunting and sport shooting aspect out of it, there will be an easier path to banning assault rifles. My bottom line is there are approximately 390 million guns in this country. How do you confiscate half of those guns , much less all of them? I don't know if and when a total solution to gun violence will ever occur.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

13. NRA says they ran a poll of it's members
Sun Aug 4, 2019, 12:17 PM
Aug 2019

"The only legitimate poll of NRA members ever done was a national scientific survey commissioned by NRA. It surveyed 1,000 randomly-selected NRA members across the country and found that NRA members are united on today’s issues.

92 percent oppose banning the sale of firearms between private citizens.
92 percent oppose background checks on the sale of firearms between private citizens.
89 percent oppose banning so-called “assault weapons.”
93 percent oppose gun registration.
91 percent SUPPORT laws to keep guns out of the hands of people with mental illnesses."

Moveon.org and the Center for American Progress are not viable, but a poll commissioned by the NRA is. Even if the last gun has been sold in the United States, what would you do about the 390 million that are still in circulation? I know one thing. I own I handgun which I keep in the nightstand by my bed. I can say with 100% complete confidence that no one will ever come into my house and confiscate that gun. It will not be because of resistance on my part, it just simply will never happen. Don't get the idea that I am Pro NRA. I am not. I am simply looking at the entire situation from a practical point of view, and the confiscation of every gun from every household in America is simply impractical, but there has to be I start somewhere, sometime.
