Williamson unveils reparations plan

The Hill

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson on Wednesday unveiled her plan to pay reparations to descendants of slaves, allotting between $200 billion and $500 billion over 20 years.

Williamson said she plans to create a “Reparations Commission” to best distribute the money across education, infrastructure, and projects dedicated to black communities.

The author and upstart candidate contends that having reparations for descendants of slavery is the next step in following ending slavery and passing Civil Rights legislation.

“We have not yet fully done all that it is morally incumbent upon us to do in order to heal this ugly wound,” she said in a statement.

The time to bring this up is not during the Election. Once you win, you can have the luxury of addressing controversial issues.

the absolute best time to float policy positions such as this.

What's really the matter with talking about M4A, Green New Deal, Insee's climate plan, or Mayor Pete's plan to address systemic racism at this time ...?

I suppose "now is not the time to talk about gun control" either ...

Having it become a weapon that the Republican candidate will use against you.

Gun control has massive public support. These issues do not.
