I would have preferred they elevated Beto at that moment, or something/someone more directly related to the communities affected. I'm not really sure about the effect of Joe Biden taking up all the air.

Not really affected by the campaign hype, and even more turned off by the gloating about how this or that opportunity afforded him makes him a sure president, or more presidential than the other candidates.

He has been doing an excellent job and media has been showing him.

The reason Brown, Tim Ryan and Mike DeWine, plus Congress people in Texas are speaking is because it is on their door step.

Mike DeWine took off so quick at the airport he was practically running, as if he wanted to get away from the toxic mess that is destroying his party. I do not care for Mike, never voted for him, but give him credit that he understood the anger of the protesters and laid out plans for some gun control. He did not get angry at them the way Trump does at anyone who crosses him.

Sherrod Brown said he did not care what Trump said about him. Everything is about Trump winning over some one else. The pettiest little soul I have ever seen. More arrogant than Nixon. In both it was absolute insecurity.

so Joe can be “elevated”, in other words, not a realistic or rational position to take. Of course no one would suggest that Kamala be quiet so Joe can get more TV time. Some of the anti-Biden bias is so unbelievably unrealistic it’s hard to take seriously.

Regardless, Ive seen Beto on TV almost nonstop. Biden hasnt affected Beto’s TV time or his “elevation”, whatever that means. It’s great to see Beto out there, love his message too.

BTW, are these utter tragedies something Beto was “afforded”, too?? No offense, but to insinuate that Biden was “afforded” an opportunity to speak out about a tragedy is a bit over the top.

And I saw plenty of “gloating” over Kamala’s debate performance —maybe you saw that, too...? There were opinions saying that made her a sure thing against Trump, but that hasn’t held up as consistently as Biden’s polling which shows him maintaining his lead. So the complaints over “gloating” might be just enthusiastic support rather than something to take as a personal affront. Lots of enthusiasm over Biden yesterday, for sure. He’s a great Democrat.

is strong in those areas.

The myth that Trump is doing wonders for the economy needs to be destroyed. All he has done has weakened the economy. That needs to be explained in a way that reaches the low-information voter so they see he is actually betraying them.

Same with defense - destroying relationships with allies and pulling out of treaties is seen as a strength to his supporters - that perception needs to be turned around. Trump has been able to redefine his opponents with his blistering attacks based on falsehoods. It is time to redefine Trump to at least a small percentage of his supporters, enough to deny him the chance of winning next year.

I realize that Biden supporters feel required to cheer lead about their candidate, everybody does who supports someone thinks everything they do is great.
I heard that Biden wrote the speech himself this weekend after being angry about Trump's comments about the shootings.
I thought he looked presidential as opposed to Trump who is either mocking and name-calling in a rant or giving a speech without empathy or passion, just reading words as if he has a gun to his head.

So Biden supporters, be proud, because your candidate did well. If he keeps that up he will pull away from the pack as long as he avoids the Biden gaffes and controls his tongue.

He put away his planned speech for the one he was giving.

I am pretty sure by this time that Joe can write his own speech with little help because he speaks from his heart.

And Sherrod Brown, Mayor Nan Whaley are remarkable. She has completely rebuilt Dayton, a long time Automotive town, beginning with Charles Kettering, it was devastated with 5 plants and NCR leaving. She has restored the area.

Sherrod said he did not care what Trump said about him, that he was a bully and coward.

Biden’s speech is being replayed over and over.

Trump had local well known Reporters put in a room with no access so they could do fake videos.

I know that I decided on Biden because of practicality. I felt that he had the best chance in the electoral college.
But with this speech my enthusiasm shot up. Now, I feel like he not only is the safe candidate, but the best one.
He showed vigor and humanity. A good combination for a candidate and a President.

You can bet many undecided and Independents will be deciding, too.

Joe laughs off Trump’s hateful remarks and that really gets to a bully. Much more than firing back.

When asked about what Trump said about him he responded,” He needs to get a life!”

Trumps whole life is built around TV. And hate.

beat Trump...I think Biden will be the nominee maybe as soon as super Tuesday. People may not have read the speech but they heard excerpts on the news and also heard about how well received the speech was...no other candidate can beat Trump IMHO. I live in the Mid West and know how the other candidates would be received here. We need WI, MI and PA...I think Biden could take Ohio also.

54. Opinion: Joe Biden reminded all of us of what a presidential president would sound like

In a fiery and blunt speech slamming the tenor, tone and words of President Trump as the nation reels from white nationalist domestic terrorism, former vice president Joe Biden reminded all of us of what a presidential president sounds like. His words were stirring. His delivery was passionate. And they were befitting a man who kicked off his campaign with a video decrying Trump’s shameful response to Charlottesville....

Sure, some of that authority has to do with Biden having served side-by-side with the still-popular former president Barack Obama. His voice providing comfort for those of us who long for the days when a grown-up was president of the United States, acted accordingly and wielded the bully pulpit of the Oval Office with moral authority. Instead, in Trump, we have a bully with a pulpit and no moral compass.

“Days before the mid-terms,” Biden said of Trump, “he fomented fears of a caravan heading to the United States, creating hysteria. saying ‘look at what is marching up, that is an invasion…An invasion’.” The Democratic front-runner continued through a litany of examples of Trump hurling red meat to his supporters. “At a rally in Florida, when he asked a crowd, ‘How do we stop these people?,’ meaning immigrants, and someone yelled back, ‘Shoot them.’ He smiled,” Biden recounted. And then Biden drew a straight line from Trump’s embrace of white supremacy to the hate-inspired violence we’ve endured.....

Biden wasn’t blind to the shortcomings of our nation and the men who formed it. He talked about them. But he demonstrated that the vision of America was perpetuated by Democratic and Republican presidents alike throughout its history. Ending his speech, Biden slipped off his prepared remarks in an emphatic way. “This is the United States of America! Period! May God protect our troops,” Biden said pounding the podium, ending a speech that everyone knows he believes in his bones.
