Is it safe to say Beto's campaign has fizzled out?

The four polls released today have him at 0, 0, 1, and 1% (IA, NC, CA, PA). Gabbard and Booker are even polling ahead of him now.

If he can keep the campaign donations and use the money in a later race that might be a sound strategy to cut back all spending now and coast for awhile before withdrawing.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

years ago, in a State of the City speech in March 2015. He was told what it was being used for by others, and never used it again. Other polticians, including Hillary Clinton, used it as well, after Buttigieg had already stopped his one time usage.

Here is the complete speech, his usage of it was hardly a swipe at the BLM movement, and again, he stopped using it immediately after being told of the misuse by others who actually were bad actors.

https://southbendvoice.com/2015/03/11/full-text-mayor-buttigiegs-state-of-the-city-address-2015/

Snip

It’s time for South Bend to begin talking about racial reconciliation. That means honest, frank discussions that allow city leaders, law enforcement, and community members to face the mistakes of the past and establish shared ground for the future. We cannot reach our full potential for community-oriented policing until we have made it the norm that all residents feel and know that we have every reason to be both pro-minority and pro-police, at the same time.

There is no contradiction between respecting the risks that police officers take every day in order to protect this community, and recognizing the need to overcome the biases implicit in a justice system that treats people from different backgrounds differently, even when they are accused of the same offenses. We need to take both those things seriously, for the simple and profound reason that all lives matter.

Our challenges our great, but our opportunities are greater. The results we have seen in the last year and the last few years leave no doubt that that sun emerging on our city seal is still a rising sun for South Bend. And the year ahead promises to be another one of good results for our neighborhoods, residents, families and businesses.

His calling out Trump and the news media on Monday was brilliant. He can continue to do that if he withdraws, he has great influence in Texas and credibility with the media and the rest of the country. First--his viral WTF moment didn't happen until, I think it was Sunday night--the recent polls I've seen (I don't know if they are the same as the ones you are posting about) ended their polling Sunday or Monday. And this started people to start paying attention to him. People I've talked to have continued to like what they are seeing the rest of this week so far and some have switched support after seeing the video of him consoling a survivor yesterday. If Beto is going to get a bump, it may take until next week or so to show up in polls.

And people get far too caught up in the horserace polls now when history shows things can change greatly later in the race--Here is some history--Late December 2003, Kerry was at 4% nationally

The week before Christmas 2003

Poll: Dean Pulls Away In Dem Race https://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-dean-pulls-away-in-dem-race/

Dean 23%

Clark 10%

Lieberman 10%

Gephardt 6%

Sharpton 5%

Kerry 4%

Edwards 2%

Moseley-Braun 1%

Kucinich 1%

Don’t Know 28%

Also--in his race, Clinton came from behind.

That was why, when his support from Democratic powers dried up, he made the decision to put I think 6 million dollars, gained by taking a mortgage on his half of his Boston home to have the money to compete in November 2003.

A friend, who was in Iowa, said that where most campaigns lost supporters to others as they met the other campaigns, once they decided they were for Kerry, they stayed with Kerry.

Another difference was that in the last week of th e campaign, the Republican marine, that Kerry saved in Vietnam, called the campaign and surprised Kerry at a campaign event. To me, this was almost out of a 1940s movie. I suspect this had an enormous impact at the end.

Kind of hard to get momentum when you've got Warren, Biden, and Sanders at those top three positions in a 20 candidate field. Has to keep getting enough support to hang around until the debates are more manageable.

We need Beto at the top of the ticket to turn Texas blue and push the rest of the ticket over the line.

Imagine losing a family member in that shooting and hearing people exclaim about what a “great” week some candidate or another was having all because of it.

I would think even Beto would disagree with people saying he had a “great” week. Wtf?

Try and think about it. Politics don’t trump (pun intended) personal tragedy in my book. Good to know how you feel.

My feelings are just fine, thanks.

And you may think Beto had a “great week” but I predict he’s finished. He simply doesn’t have what it takes.

apparent inability to focus on more than one relatively new non-Biden, non-very-progressive candidate at a time. First O'Rourke, then Buttigieg, then Harris.

Biden as the front-runner always gets media attention (though much of it has been criticism), Warren and Sanders can count on steady coverage by the more progressive journalists/pundits, but candidates closer to Biden politically seem to be picked up and dropped like toys discarded by bored children...which the media often seem to be.
