Andrew Yang: I'd Beat Trump at Anything Because 'He Is So Fat'

Daily Beast

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang has declared that he could beat President Trump at any challenge—mental or physical—because the president “is so fat.”

Yang, who had no political experience before running for president, recently beat out a slew of seasoned politicians to qualify for the September Democratic debate in Houston. During a gun-violence panel hosted by Everytown at the Iowa State Fair last week, Yang deviated from script to settle any qualms voters might have with regards to his physical uperiority over President Trump.

The ensuing tirade quickly followed Yang breaking down into tears after hearing a mother describe her children being shot. The emotion of the event seemed to light a fire under Yang, who, only a few minutes later, challenged the president to a string of hypothetical battles. “I challenge Donald Trump to any physical or mental feat under the sun,” Yang said to the crowd. “I mean, gosh, what could that guy beat me at, being a slob?” Yang continued: “Like, what could Donald Trump possibly be better than me at? An eating contest? Like something that involved trying to keep something on the ground and having really large body mass? Like, if there was a hot-air balloon that was rising and you needed to try and keep it on the ground, he would be better than me at that? Because he is so fat.”
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

If he calls our candidate sleepy or crazy, our candidate should offer him a donut and ask how many push-ups he can do, or challenge him to read a tongue-twisting phrase, or pronounce a common long word.

If he attacks our candidate, that candidate must make him look like a fool, using whatever language.

He seems to be saying that overweight people are slobs. Also what does a person's weight have to do with their mental ability? He is not just insulting Trump. He is putting down overweight people. Since many voters in this country are overweight, I don't think this was a smart move.

Obviously Yang dislikes fat people and thinks it is okay to say these things about them. Many voters are overweight. I don't think that it was a smart move on Yang's part. I don't see it getting him more support. I think he has alienated some overweight voters. He said that he could beat Trump at any mental contest because Trump is fat. That implies that fat people are dumb and not worthy of respect.

I certainly don't think Trump is good at anything. He has absolutely no redeemable qualities.

However, I think some voters would be offended and I don't think he gained any support by what he said. It was childish and not something I would expect from someone who wants to be the president. It shows his lack of experience and decorum. I wasn't planning on voting for Yang in the primaries anyway but I'm more sure now that I made the right decision. I believe that there are better candidates currently running.

Of course as with any of the democratic candidates, if he does become the candidate in the general election then I will vote for him.

I agree with you on that point. But I don't think his intent was to bash heavy people.

He could have simply made it an issue of physical and mental fitness. While physical fitness correlates to weight some, it does not in many cases. Mental fitness has no relation to weight at all (as you pointed out well).

I agree that Yang should at least clarify what he was trying to say and apologize to heavy people for his hurtful phrasing. Good Presidents do apologize for verbal missteps, there is historical cases, so Yang making a hurtful statement that he likely didn't intend as it came out does not disqualify him if he makes proper amends.

Is the next election going to be a Thunderdome affair? Nobody told me. Two men enter, one man leaves. What relevance does a He Man attitude have here?

Well, he is off the viability list if he thinks that playground-style rhetoric is at all useful at this stage. In fact, it is very counter-productive.

My candidate is going to address the wall of rhetorical slime that the Slug-in-Chief has erected and utilized to manipulate both sides in different ways. I say that from my own perspective, having poured over volumes of video material, including the debates, interviews and Big Brother-style rallies.

I really am not concerned that people dismiss this or lump sum all of Trump's voluminous faults, ignorance and despicable character in together with his main skill. That skill is why he is in office and continues to serve as a very, very useful idiot while more important issues get buried, pushed aside and avoided. Even a poorly educated, somewhat illiterate carnival barker can do a great job with time-tested and practiced means of manipulation. Watch him more closely and you can see the tricks, especially in the debates. His tweets often have a different approach, though his spell is cast there, too.

Hate trump? Does he have you really riled up? Are you content with ridiculing him? Are you aghast, shocked and overwhelmed? Have you have thought of that as being manipulated?

It is going to burnout, but I would like to accelerate that process with full gusto. The more people are aware of his vulnerabilities and catch onto the well-time, often instant tactics, the faster this is over with, and I would hope for a candidate that will not be at all naive about that and bring some well practiced skills to the table and use them almost instinctively without reservation.

If you go up to face the Mister Excrement, Jr., and you think that just being reasonable, stating facts and appealing to the people is your only task, you don't get it. You are going to have to deal with his alpha moves, double-binds, and a host of other aggressive and psychological ploys at the same time.

but I have played a lot of golf with cheaters and know how to handle them.
I have a good memory for shots taken, and I confront them every time they cheat the score or move the ball which is not allowed unless the pick and clean rule is in effect after heavy rain and muddy conditions.

I have watched him play on TV, and he seems to be a good player. So I am not 100% sure I can beat him now because I am 7 years older than him as well and have lost distance.

I hesitate to condemn Yang unless I see more of what happened than just take the alleged word of this one Daily Beast reporter.

Is there corroborating evidence or other people who can vouch for what was said exactly? Video would be best.

Or is this a stupid satire?

"Fight fire with fire."

"These are strange times."

Nonsense. You're principled or you're just a partisan. It makes the party look bad.
