Related: About this forumI sure hope there arent any people here, no matter which candidate they support,
who will THREATEN to withold their vote if supporters of ANOTHER candidate are not nice to them or question their candidate?
I hope not.

It's very simple. If he is the nominee will you vote for him. Yes or no.

(33,540 posts)They're pretty much equivalent both in terms of being likely and in terms of effectiveness.
Sanders would not do much to save the country, since he shares the self absorption of he who must not be named, but he at least would not be destroying the country in response to every statement that he is not, in fact, God.

(33,540 posts)He or she is expressing a thought, and perhaps he or she values some thoughts and doesn't value others.
It may not be a refusal per se, but might rather be disinterest.
Not everything is worthy of attention, and no, it doesn't require hostility from a "corporate media" to be found unworthy of attention.

(7,681 posts)I guess. Thanks again for your input. You'll forgive me if I disagree I'm sure.
Because I find the question relevant and the lack of response quite telling.

(33,540 posts)...your own view of what is telling and what is not.
I think it's "telling" that you think its "telling" that the OP person isn't totally interested in responding to you.
I do think I'm right though, in the sense that carrying on about a whether we would vote for another perennial candidate for President, Harold Stassen of the 21st century, should he win the nomination, it's not worth pursuing.
One would need to be either brain dead or a raving racist to not vote for whoever wins the Democratic nomination in 2020.
If one doesn't, well...
I mean, if someone is Susan Sarandon, can we make them stop being Susan Sarandon?
If someone is Harold Stassen, do we have to consider what we would do if Harold Stassen was the Democratic candidate?
Harold Stassen was a Republican and he ran for President 9 times, coming close to the nomination the first time (1948) as Governor of Minnesota. He ran every four years after that. He became a joke, and he died, but if his dead body ran for President, and he won the Democratic nomination despite not even being a Democrat, I would vote for him in the 2020 election, because a dead guy would be better than the guy living in the White House.
Have a nice evening.

To accomplish them of course you must have someone who is KNOWN to work well with others.

(33,540 posts)I do think that the capacity to listen is every bit as important as the ability to say things, at least for a person seeking political power.
For an ordinary citizen, like myself, there can be a limit to how much listening one must do to understand the score.
I have no use for listening to anything Bernie Sanders has to say that might be useful, since other people say it better and with more direct experience.
There are at least ten candidates in our party to whom I'd rather spend time listening before listening to more from Sanders.
Of course, I agree, that Senator Sanders is not a steaming pile of shit like that creature in the White House, but there is a certain quality that I see in terms of "I'm right and everyone who doesn't agree with me is wrong."
I was born in New York, and in the New York culture there is a high distribution of people with that attitude. When mildly expressed, it can be amusing, even funny, but carried too far, it can be pernicious, as we are seeing with the lunatic in chief.
Because of my upbringing and the awareness of that culture, I cringe when I hear my language (my native language, Brooklynese) being spoken by that guy Sanders. Fuggettttaboutit!
The "I wuz robbed" sulking is not appealing, and even if someone doing it is actually right about some things, there are people who are right about the same thing who can execute on the rhetoric.
I know he did go through the motions in 2016, but what sticks is "I wuz robbed" even though he wasn't robbed. He was rejected.
Sulking over thinking one is right above all others is not an effective way to get things done, and it is a sure road to incompetence.
But again, Sanders isn't Trump, but they do share this rather annoying trait, this Dunning-Kruger type grandiosity.

But when someone appoints themselves loyalty enforcer I think it's a different story.

What I am allowed to say:
If Beto is Nominated, I will donate to, vote for, canvass for, and social media promote him as much as I am capable.
If Warren is Nominated, I will donate to, vote for, canvass for, and social media promote her as much as I am capable.

So clever. Still, with that incredible cleverness out of the way..what we're left with is this...
Your post that clearly says you can't answer honestly and stay within in the TOS
That's a no. and an admission that you will not vote for the Democratic nominee under those circumstances,
No one made you make that post. You could have kept that to yourself. For whatever reason you felt it important to let everyone know. And now you want to pretend it doesn't say what it says? Makes no sense.

(4,558 posts)You ask a question. One that can only be answered one way here without violating rules.
I've answered your question, to the best of my ability, without lying, and remaining within the rules.
You then made an assertion that was incorrect. There are candidates that I will do everything that I possibly can to get them elected if they secure the nomination that I don't necessarily like.
If you don't want people to answer your question, a question that is loaded I might add due to it only being able to be answered in the affirmative and remain within rules, then you might consider taking your own advice to me and keep it to yourself?
I am not trying to be "clever", I am trying to answer your question while fully adhering to the rules of this forum without lies or deception.
I am also not pretending it doesn't say what it says. I stand fully behind all of those candidates, both liked and not, in every way that I am able should any of them obtain the nomination.

I'd even battle the chronic pain to canvass for her and preach her accolades to all who would listen. No amount of online trash will keep me from voting early and often for blue no matter who as you would say. 2020 is too important to sacrifice one's vote due to petty online bullshit.

(58,785 posts)The numbers of anti-Democrat zealots and spite voters won't increase. They're what they are.
People who won't vote for a woman but won't decamp if our nominee's a male? Numbers unclear, but odds are fewer will be helping elect Trump, or Pence, in 2020.
But the biggie is that, according to that pollster who nailed the midterms, many Democrats/left-indies who were too "complacent" to vote in on November 8, 2016 had been scared into voting by the midterms and were a big part of the big blue wave.
And from now to November 3, 2020, if he's still in office, Trump'll be supplying fears and disasters to suit every taste. Whether it's economic troubles, unmet natural disasters, detention centers becoming concentration camps as more enter but fewer leave, and children dying in them, losing healthcare, the nuclear football following a dangerous sociopath around, or whatever, they're likely to turn out in as high or higher numbers in 2020. There're still lots of feckless slackers out there.

Also, I never go to either because of a weakness to holding onto physical books too long (and also the nuisance of losing them among my own), but the FL one's right across a long, tall bridge that, even with commuter traffic and the drop off the raised 30" wide curb, makes a lovely morning walk.
