Complaining about the polls used to qualify for the debates.
The poll criteria was decided by the DNC beforehand, does she want them to change it after the fact it to let her in?

Tulsi Gabbard Is Not Who You Think She Is
From homophobia to Islamophobia to cultism, she is no progressive's dream.
To some progressives, the news Monday that Tulsi Gabbard was meeting with President-Elect Donald Trump for consideration of a position in his administration must have been confusing.
Gabbards February 2016 endorsement of Bernie Sanders quixotic run for the Democratic nomination for president involved publicly resigning her seat as DNC Vice Chair. Her name has been floated as a possible candidate for 2020. And at a glance, her positions seem in line with the liberal wing of her party.
But a deeper look at Gabbards political career shows that she is devoted to attaining power and to the perpetuation of extremist, fringe ideology. She adopts and sheds extremist positions at will, but one thing remains constant: her consistent embrace of hard-right politics.
The 35-year-old Congresswoman from Hawaii was raised in a politically powerful household. Her father, Mike Gabbard, is a well-known firebrand in Hawaiian politics his most beloved issue is a virulent rejection of homosexuality and gay rights.
The younger Gabbard protested against a bill advocating civil unions during her tenure in the Hawaii Congress, holding up signs decrying the proposition. The bill eventually stalled.
Gabbard replied to a request for comment on her fathers connections with cult leader Chris Butler (more below) in 2004 with an oddly worded email accusing Honolulu Magazine of a homosexual conspiratorial attempt to discredit her father.

(7,113 posts)An NBC News analysis of the main English-language news sites employed by Russia in its 2016 election meddling shows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who is set to make her formal announcement Saturday, has become a favorite of the sites Moscow used when it interfered in 2016.
Several experts who track websites and social media linked to the Kremlin have also seen what they believe may be the first stirrings of an upcoming Russian campaign of support for Gabbard.
Since Gabbard announced her intention to run on Jan. 11, there have been at least 20 Gabbard stories on three major Moscow-based English-language websites affiliated with or supportive of the Russian government: RT, the Russian-owned TV outlet; Sputnik News, a radio outlet; and Russia Insider, a blog that experts say closely follows the Kremlin line. The CIA has called RT and Sputnik part of "Russia's state-run propaganda machine."

"I'm going to continue to focus on moving our campaign forward, continuing this grassroots campaign, continuing to deliver our message to the American people and ask for their support," she added.
Gabbard failed to qualify for the next Democratic debate in September after making the first two debates. She reached the fundraising threshold, but did not meet the Democratic National Committee's polling minimum to qualify.

(20,709 posts)Tucker Carlson is obviously not interested in the fairness of the Democratic debate process. He's interested in helping Trump get re-elected, in this case by pushing the line that the DNC is somehow rigging the primary. Tulsi is smart enough to know this, which means she agreed to let herself contribute to Carlson's pro-Trump agenda because she thought it would benefit her personally.
She also knows that on Tucker Carlson's show, she is free to say attack Democrats in any kind of illogical or conspiratorial way, without getting any pushback, like one would on Maddow. Which is exactly what she did, for example, by saying that the process is "confusing" and "lacks transparency" when in fact the rules are quite clear and were all constructed before the polling period.

(18,360 posts)Now, she says that the criteria for making the debate stage lacks transparency.
Gabbard told Fox News Tucker Carlson that the whole thing gets a little bit confusing and youve got to jump way down into the weeds of the numbers and the statistics, but I think the bigger problem is that the whole process really lacks transparency.
snip===================================================================
It is the latter criterion Gabbard takes issue with. She passed the donor threshold but did not rake up enough qualifying polls with only two, according to FiveThirtyEight.
The DNC mandates that polls must be conducted by any four of 16 different organizations, which include the likes of The Associated Press, Fox News, Quinnipiac University and USA TODAY. More than one poll from the same organization can not count unless they are conducted over different geographic regions
snip===================================================================
They arent giving any time to Tulsi at all, she said in the tweet.
And again the night before Gabbard took the stage in CNNs July debate, her sister said of the first night of the debate round If tonights debate on CNN is as biased/unfair as last night, the DNC needs to reconsider CNN hosting future debates.

All I'm trying to say is that if she's trying to HELP her chances as being seen as a viable candidate, then whatever it is she thinks she's doing... it ain't helping.
These are the challenges and yardsticks that separate the JV from the Varsity players... the boys from the men... the girls from the women... the also-rans from the condenders... and the WINNERS from the CONTENDERS.
This isn't going to be her year. And it looks like this could be her last term too. From what I can tell, she's not likely to be reelected either. She's got a tough road ahead, and she's only making it more difficult for herself. That shows poor judgement in what she's decided for herself, and in the types of advisors she chooses.

Tulsi showed her loyalty to former VP Joe when she surprised many by fiercely defending Joe after Harris attacked by implying Joe is a racist during the first debate. I believe she helped Joe when no other candidate would defend him.
Some of what Iraq War veteran and National Guard member since 2003 said about Assad:
"There is evidence that both the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad as well as the armed opposition groups aligned against him have used chemical weapons (CW) during the Syrian war."
From video below (8 minutes in):
Anderson Cooper: "Just on a factual basis, Bashar al-Assad is a murderer and a torturer, do you not agree with that?"
Tulsi Gabbard: "I don't dispute that."

If I had only worked with people who opposed segregation, I never would have worked with people who were not my color, Clyburn said, who is 78 and was first elected to Congress at the age of 52.
Clyburn who first told Politico Wednesday that he worked with the late-U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond, R-S.C., all my life, despite Thurmonds notoriously pro-segregationist platform later told McClatchy that he has been lucky enough to see some lawmakers evolve in their thinking.
I said at Fritz Hollings funeral, Thank God a man can grow, Clyburn recalled of the South Carolinas other long-serving U.S. senator, a Democrat who died earlier this year. (Hollings) ran for office in 1947 or 48 as a segregationist. He left office as a progressive. Thank God a man can grow.

There were more debates in 2008 and 2004. While DWS was clearly supporting Hillary, Gabbard resigned from the DNC position so she could campaign for Bernie Sanders.
Gabbard is a complicated figure and I don't support her for president, but this is not a case of wanting the rules changed because she didn't qualify. She's wanted this for years.

Especially since, this time around, her complaining began right about the time it became clear she wasn't going to make the Sept debate.

(1,501 posts)Listen to Gabbard respond to what she calls "cheap smears" by Harris:
Religious bigotry has no place on this forum or in the Democratic Party.
Denigrating a Democratic Presidential candidate's personal or family life is off-limits for me. You do know Gabbard was Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2013-2016 and was the first Hindu elected to Congress, right? Her religious practices didn't matter to Democrats then and it shouldn't matter now.

Tulsi Gabbard Is Not Who You Think She Is
From homophobia to Islamophobia to cultism, she is no progressive's dream.

(1,501 posts)Due to her time in Iraq, Gabbard is in favor of a non-intervention approach to foreign policy to prevent another FUBAR. This is why she went to meet Trump and Assad:
"Gabbard agreed to meet with Trump to make her case for a noninterventionist foreign policy. A few months later, she flew to Syria and met with Bashar al-Assad, who is presiding over a brutal civil war; she and he seemed to agree that the United States should not intervene to stop it."

H.R. 2282 Equality Act of 2017 which amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity among the prohibited categories of discrimination or segregation in places of public accommodation
Tulsi directly addresses her views on the LGBTQ+ community:
https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4764183/tulsi-gabbard-lgbtq-record
At a 2012 meeting of Hawaii Democratic Party LGBT caucus, Tulsi addressed her opposition to same sex marriage in her youth and her complete evolution on this important issue. She openly and wholeheartedly apologizes for her wrongdoing and the harm she had caused the LGBT community, asking for but not expecting their forgiveness.
On #EqualityDay, we recognize that many LGBT Americans still face discrimination everyday. This is wrong, and defies our American principles of equality, justice, and individual freedom. The #EqualityAct would extend comprehensive anti-discrimination protections to LGBT Americans

(6,916 posts)If you had quoted down just two sentences in the same New Yorker article youd have seen progressives criticize her.
Earlier this year, a handful of impassioned progressives gathered in downtown Honolulu for an event known as Resist Trump Tuesday, in which they visited their senators and Congress membersall Democratsand urged them to fight harder. They got a friendly reception at the office of Senator Brian Schatz, and one participant presented some red flowers at the office of Senator Mazie Hirono, who has been battling kidney cancer. But at Gabbards office the staffer who met them was wariany of those Clinton voters were unhappily surprised when, less than two weeks after the election, Gabbard agreed to meet with Trump to make her case for a noninterventionist foreign policy. A few months later, she flew to Syria and met with Bashar al-Assad, who is presiding over a brutal civil war; she and he seemed to agree that the United States should not intervene to stop it.

(17,390 posts)Even though Bernie has complained about the spectacle of having so many candidates on stage, Tulsi Gabbard attacks other candidates and the DNC. Moreover, it is pretty clear that various allies of Bernie launch attacks on the Democratic candidates under Tulsi's name. For example, look at the various kicking and threads amplifying Gabbard's attacks on Kamala Harris. Tulsi can't even qualify for the debates, yet she seems to have an internet army of supporters who are happy to take down every candidate except Bernie Sanders.
If Tulsi Gabbard were a serious candidate, then she would have dropped out once it became clear that she could not qualify for the debates. However, she is not in it to win it. She is just trying to act as a hitman for Bernie.

(25,183 posts)so she's desperate for attention to get her poll numbers up, even a little bit, to qualify for the October debate. She figures that there are at least enough Fox News watchers who would be willing to lie to pollsters to keep her as a burr under the eventual Democratic nominee's saddle.
It's all she's got at this point.
