I think this tweet says more about media bias than Dave Weigel realized

From the Washington Post's Dave Weigel, whose paper has been more than a little critical of Joe Biden:

In my Washington bubble, liberals are for Warren and leftists are for Sanders. The pundit-think I'm talking about comes from Iowans et al, who are traumatized by 2016 and willing to settle for candidate they think Republicans would be comfortable with.

So on the one side you have the Washington media elite, whose candidate preferences run the (narrow leftwing) gamut frm Warren to Sanders.

And on the other side, you have the "Iowans et al" and their misinformed "pundit-think" (thinking for themselves ratber than letting the media pundits do it for them) who "are traumatized by 2016 and willing to settle for candidate they think Republicans would be comfortable with."

Meaning Biden.

I can't begin to count how often I've seen pundits and reporters complain that voters are "playing pundit" and should NOT, by their misinformed selves, attempt to figure out who's electable. That's seen as usurping a privilege pundits believe they have a monopoly on.

But this is the first time I've seen this elite-vs-ordinary-voters attitude expressed so clearly, with Warren and Sanders named as the beneficiaries of this bias, and Biden not named but clearly identified as the one those poor pitiful "traumatized" voters prefer.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Btw, Warren does seem to be a bit more of a favorite than Sanders is, but he is a favorite, as highplainsdem Aug 2019 #4

The “candidate for people willing to settle” narrative. F that guy.

And WAPO has a single reporter (Visar) who’s written almost 30 stories about Biden since April (90% of his total work). And 95% of them were nakedly negative. He broke yesterday’s war story. David Axelrod wrote that the piece read like a “pretty sophisticated oppo research dump.”

How is that level of bias appropriate?
