A rap legend ripped Kamala's marriage to a white man...

A rap legend ripped Kamala’s marriage to a white man. Then she won him over.

Luther “Luke” Campbell, the former 2 Live Crew frontman and “original bad boy of hip-hop,” absolutely torched Kamala Harris a few weeks after she announced her bid for president.

Writing in the Miami New Times, Campbell argued many blue-collar African Americans, especially men, had made up their minds not to vote for the onetime prosecutor. He lumped her in with politicians who have denied defendants rehabilitation and targeted innocent people.

And in a riff that critics slammed as sexist, Campbell questioned Harris’ marriage to a white man. He even suggested she used a romantic relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown to advance her career.

So it was more than a little curious when Campbell announced very publicly he’d changed his mind. In an Instagram video last week, he said he and Harris had recently talked on the phone about her record and presidential priorities, from gun control to the rehabilitation programs she started. Campbell said he wanted to determine whether she’s a “real sister.”

More bullshit from Politico

They seem to have a pattern of this crap

let's look a little more closely at Mr. Campbell, "deadbeat dad" roll model:

"He has six children from five previous relationships.[citation needed] On July 19, 2008, he married law school graduate Kristin Thompson in Dallas, Texas. She is the mother of his seventh child.[citation needed] Luther was brought up in Liberty City, Miami.
On February 18, 2009, Campbell was arrested for falling behind on child support payments.[35] He became a columnist for the Miami New Times[36] in February 2010. His column, Luke's Gospel,[37] provides "a forum for his crazy-ass views on current events," which include politics, sports and entertainment. He is quoted on the web site as saying: "It's the perfect place for me. I am a free-speech guy. It's just a match made in Heaven. Can you believe it? Me turned loose on the world in New Times. Wow."[38]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Campbell#Personal_life

and here is what one of his daughters says about this pillar of society:

"Last year Luke's daughter Lucretia posted a video online blasting Luke calling him a woman beating absentee father [click here if you missed that]. Luke responded to Lucretia in a radio interview saying he only had one child and that all the rest were just sperm donations [click here if you missed that].

Luke's harsh response spurned one of his other daughters, Shanetris, to write a book. In telling her story Shane reveals the difficulty her mother had getting child support from Luke, being raped by her stepfather at 15 and stripping in Miami at 17.

Shane writes in I Am Not My Father's Daughter,
My dad was now a multi millionaire. So my mom hired a Miami attorney to sue him for child support.

One night, my mom and dad were arguing about the child support case and he asked to speak with me.

I picked up the receiver to hear the only father I have ever known tell me that I wasn’t his. “I’m sorry, you’re not my child. Don’t ever call me again,” he said flatly. I cried. His voice on the other end of the receiver, like his true character, was cold and heartless.

Through painful wails, screams, tears, and most of all through the pieces of my shattered heart, I screamed, “He said I wasn’t his!” My uncles were also screaming and crying. One by one , my grandmother tried to calm us all down, but the house was in a complete uproar.

My mom had her own small victory a few months later when she was awarded a lump sum of several thousand dollars back pay plus $1,200 monthly to care for me.

Determined to have the last word, my dad had the money delivered to our house in a Brink’s truck. In pennies."

this article is about Harris connecting with African-Americans in general, who are not a monolithic group and care about different issues. The "rap legend" referenced is now supporting Harris.

Harris went to a historically black college and sorority, but some black men don't like her history as a prosecutor. Hardly anyone cares that she married a white man.

when I saw his name as the "rap legend" in question. And it was also a surprise to learn that he writes editorials now?

However, the good news is that Harris is making headway with some of her most ardent detractors. Out of all the candidates, I think the GOP & Russian trolls targeted her the most last year and there's still a lot of damage to undo.

The fact that Harris came to him even after his personal attacks made a big impression.

“That got me more than anything. That I could write all those tough words … that I could say what I did on those interviews, and she’s woman enough to say, ‘Let’s have a conversation,’” he said. “Most men, they take it personal, take their little toy and they go sit down.”

Before deciding on the endorsement, Campbell said he kept reflecting on the first Democratic debates, thinking who could really take on Trump. Biden, he said, is too old. Bernie Sanders “is just going to go up there and start screaming.” He believes Elizabeth Warren reacted “in a little fragile way” by releasing a DNA test to prove claims to Native American ancestry. Her support for reparations for descendants of slaves didn’t help, either. “We as African Americans know that’s not going to happen,” he said.

And Campbell said he doesn’t think Cory Booker’s message is resonating: “He gives us a black history lesson every time he talks.”

So, it’s Harris.

“I’m a man,” Campbell said. “I can say I made a mistake.”
