Reuters/Ipsos poll, Democratic registered voters: Biden 30%, Sanders 19%, Warren 14%, Harris 5%,

Last edited Wed Sep 11, 2019, 08:57 PM - Edit history (2)

Buttigieg 5%, Booker & O'Rourke & Yang 3%, all others 1% or less, PLUS 10% voting "Don't Know"

https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2019-09/2019_reuters_tracking_-_core_political_democratic_primary_tracker_09_11_2019_.pdf

They show the trends from this poll and their previous 4 polls.

Biden was at 36% in May and June, dipped to 28% in July and August, now 30%.

Sanders was at 15, 16, 18, 23, and now 19%.

Warren at 9, 11, 13, 12, and now 14%.

Harris at 9, 8, 13, 7, and now 5%.

Buttigieg at 5% except for dropping briefly to 4% in the July poll.

This Ipsos poll also asked the preferences of Democratic, Independent, AND OTHER registered voters. Since the only others mentioned in the info on methodology are Republicans, apparently they included at least some Republicans as well, though this was not a GE poll, but a Democratic primary poll. (Maybe they had some Republicans determined to vote in our primaries?)

That part of the poll had 20% saying "Don't Know."

And it had Biden at 22%, Sanders at 16%, Warren at 11%, Buttigieg and Harris at 4%, Yang and Booker at 3%, O'Rourke at 2%, and all others at 1% or less.

LOL. Just noticed that 5% responding in this part of the poll said "Can't vote in primary."

I have to admit I wonder why they thought this type of primary polling was relevant.

Which is why I've highlighted the results for Democratic registered voters.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

but Republicans, which doesn't make sense to me. It will pull Biden's RCP average down a bit, and also pull Warren's average down a bit, while not having any effect on Sanders' average

FiveThirtyEight is using those odd numbers, too. They've listed the poll twice, with the same results but different numbers of voters polled. Maybe they'd intended to also include the numbers for Democratic registered voters, but just messed up.

The poll results at the Ipsos website have the polling among Democratic registered voters given first.

I did mess up one of Biden's #s -- he'd never dipped as low as 26%; I'd misread the July #, which was really 28% -- but I've fixed that.

I need to stop trying to post messages while also cooking dinner. LOL. Especially if I'm trying to read very small #s on a graph while leaning over my desk before heading back to the kitchen...
