Joe Biden's speech this morning

I heard about 10 minutes of it in the car (MSNBC via Sirius).

Really impressive - emotional, inspirational, meaningful. to VP Biden.

BTW, Joy Reid broke from her show to air the speech - that's what I was listening to.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

...or was it just Biden giving a sermon?

I don't recall Joy or anyone else breaking from their show to watch Kamala speak at a church, as she has several times, on one memorable anniversary, in particular, at one significant church.

I'm more than cynical, in the immediate wake of controversy over his remarks in the debate in response to a question of accounting for the legacy of slavery. It's especially glaring because he hasn't personally offered any explanation for his remarks or responded to critics before making this appearance.

I don't need Biden or anyone else to remind me of the importance of the tragedy in our nation's history. Did he address his own controversial remarks at all today?

Birmingham, Alabama (CNN) — Former Vice President Joe Biden delivered an impassioned speech to commemorate the 56th anniversary of the bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, warning that racism and white supremacy still persist in the country.

"Hate is on the rise again, and we're at a defining moment again in American history," said Biden, who served as vice president to the United States' first black President Barack Obama. "Hate only hides. It doesn't go away. If you give it oxygen it comes out from under the rocks."

Biden tied the forces that motivated the 1963 church bombing that claimed the lives of four young girls to those driving the massacres in El Paso, Texas; Charleston, South Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Poway, California.

Yet here you are imposing yourself for better or worse, on this memorably tragic observance.

You criticize him on a day that he memorializes four dead little girls. You could let your politics go for just one day.

Bigtree, I use to love all your posts on DU. Loved seeing the pictures of Obama that you posted here when I first joined DU. I looked forward to them. They were so bright and joyful. The beautiful OP that you did about your father. Long OP and I read it all. So much love there.
