Bernie Sanders' campaign announced Thursday it has now received contributions from over 1 million individual donors.
"With 1 million contributors, this is the only Democratic campaign that has more supporters than Donald Trump," said campaign manager Faiz Shakir. "Our strength is in numbers, and that is why Bernie Sanders is the only candidate who is able to say his campaign will rely only on grassroots funding in both the primary and against Donald Trump."
Sanders reached the milestone seven months after he announced his candidacy in February, faster than any candidate ever.

According to the campaign, Sanders "continues to be the only Democratic candidate with more individual contributions than Donald Trump."

I am glad when I see all the candidates for the Democratic 2020 Presidential nomination raising money and attracting supporters, it means tRump's days are numbered.
I must admit, I am a bit jealous. But Elizabeth Warren will soon reach a million individual donors too, that's a sure bet!

You try homecare 24/7 for a 93 year old, which I mentioned a few posts above. TWO YEARS and only two of us doing it. No sleep, baby monitor and cell next to my pillow.
Doctors visits...this is how the day goes. Get her up and dress her, give her breakfast. Guide her to the bathroom. Rest in her rocker. Put her down for a nap. Wake her, walk her to the kitchen to rest dragging a 50 foot oxygen cord. Get her out the door down 4 steps and a sit down as she needs to rest. Finally two of us get her to the car...then run back in the house to get the portable 50 lb oxygen tank to hook her up in the car. Run back and get the wheel chair and toss that heavy sucker in the car. Then same into the office, out of the office and then the reverse getting her back in the house. So yes, I am exhausted and missed that first damn line. I am 66 years old and I don't know if I am coming or going anymore. You try it sometime

(5,376 posts)So, your 28,000 number would seem low for any candidate. Where are you getting that number from? I thought candidates had to have 60,000 individual donors to qualify for the first debate back in June? The September debate required 130,000 unique donors. So the DNC must have kept track, right?
here's an interesting NY Times article on where individuals donors are for all candidates
Detailed Maps of the Donors Powering the 2020 Democratic Campaigns
By Josh Katz, K.K. Rebecca Lai, Rachel Shorey and Thomas Kaplan Aug. 2, 2019
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has a huge lead over other Democratic presidential candidates in the number of individual donors they have each accumulated so far.
This is the first time since the primary race began in earnest that we can estimate how many individual donors each candidate has attracted a key indicator of how much they are catching on with voters.
Mr. Sanders is relying heavily on small donors to power his campaign, and he entered the 2020 race with a huge network of online donors who supported his 2016 presidential bid. The map above shows the breadth of Mr. Sanderss roster of donors across the United States.
A map that includes the rest of the Democratic field without Mr. Sanders offers a picture of where the other major candidates are picking up donors. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, the other leading progressive in the race, is outpacing the rest of the field across much of the country a sign that her strategy of relying on grass-roots donors, and refraining from holding high-dollar fund-raisers, is working.
Candidates with the most individual donors when Sanders is excluded
Where Bernie Sanders is leading, the runner-up is shown. Darker shades on the map indicate a greater share of estimated donors.

(67,782 posts)...and extrapolations made by the NY Times. Those are not documented numbers as reported to the FEC.
From the campaign's FEC financial filings through June 30, there were only 28,066 unique donors identified who made a total of 277,693 donations. These donors made an average of 9.9 donations each for an average aggregate of $299.

(5,376 posts)Those were individual donor requirements. So the DNC must have been keeping track, right?
28,000 individual donors would not have been enough to qualify for the June debate.
Again, you seem to be getting a wrong number, 28,000 is just way off according to the DNC's debate requirements.
I realize you posted while I was editing, so here is that point again.

(5,376 posts)Everyone in the first debate in June had to have 60,000 unique individual donors and 130,000 unique individual donors for the debate we just had in September.
Surely we ALL trust that the DNC verified those numbers, right?
I kept asking that question because you just kept repeating that only 28,000 were reported to the FEC while never commenting on the fact that the DNC certified 2 times and then 4 times that number.
Did you ever acknowledge that the DNC's numbers were correct as a minimum and I missed that somehow? I honestly don't think I did.
