Heart Attack Scandal?

"Written on 9/12/16 - one day after we found out HRC had pneumonia.

"Clinton will almost certainly recover—God help the Democratic Party if she does not—but the damage has already been done to her trustworthiness, if not her health.

https://vanityfair.com/news/2016/09/clinton-pneumonia-scandal It's even referred to as a "pneumonia scandal."

Bernie had a heart attack and his campaign was not honest about it. Has damage been done to his trustworthiness? Do we refer to it as a "heart attack scandal?"

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. I keep going back to the alleged 'concern' about her pneumonia...

and reflecting on all the well-wishers who thought she should step aside for the good of the party and her own health.

Oddly enough, the same who did that then don't currently hold their own candidate to that same standard, and insert distinctions lacking relevant differences to rationalize the sanctimony.

2. Neither is a scandal. And trying to turn it into one isn't the way to win a primary.

4. Damage cannot be done to Sanders "trustworthiness."

One of the things about being such a polarizing figure is that people choose sides and hunker down. You either trust him or you do not. Little room for movement.

Additionally, Clinton was an unchallenged front runner. The media was doing everything possible to make it a race. The state of the race today shows Sanders on the decline and there are other candidates who would be easier to give an assist to.

Leave Sanders be until his next attack on the left. Then light his ass up.

Sanders has a medical event.
He's significantly incapacitated.
He gets tested/checked out and treated for it with stents, etc.

In other words, he is under the weather awaiting test results, then off to get the procedure done and then in recovery.

The campaign was very likely waiting for Bernie's input on what to release to the public. It is his personal health information.

After 2-3 days, they got his response and told the media.

I am sure some will try to spin it but I do not see what the big deal is.

10. I thought the media was complaining about her actions before she knew it was pneumonia

They criticized her for "powering through" what she thought was a cold or flu. Either way, I still think a man would be praised for working while sick.

14. I never saw that as a big scandal

Her people are supposed to protect her. And they did.
They provided cover until they got the facts.
They may have BS'd some because they did not know or were protecting her.

I would have a bigger concern for a candidate who was not surrounded by people who would protect them.

Stuff happens. When the candidate is unable to give guidance as Clinton and Sanders were when they were ill, their folks provided some cover which may have been inaccurate until they got better info/clearance to reveal more.

I do not think it is a big deal.

Sanders being older and having a heart attack may cost him some support. But his staff being murky on the details for a couple of days is not a major sin in my opinion.

For me, the issue is his staffs hypocrisy on the issue. This is what Nina Turner said about Hillary.

Former Ohio state senator Nina Turner, a prominent supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vermont) in the Democratic primary race, said: "People get sick. . . . It's OK not to feel well. It's all about the coverup."

totally transparent to me. "Myocardial infarction" -- that's pretty clear. The fact that Bernie hasn't chosen to pull out is not a cover up. It's a choice, not a scandal despite this attempt to make it one.
