The one treat that I used to like was the sno cones! I used to have a summer job at an amusement park and the sno cone booth wasn't far away...

Fried Butter...

The one thing I tried there was fried bread and mine had refried beans in it. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't make it part of my regular diet!

Cape Cod summers. Lot's of heathy fish. Then there are steamers, muscles dipped in butter. Then there is lobster, OH MY GAWD. Dipped in lots of butter. To die for.

My Dad's favorite restaurant (which he used to call "the fish place," LOL) offered a bucket of steamed mussels and we always got that as an appetizer - but more than once I ordered it just for myself as dinner!

Lunch. Legal Seafood.

We order the same thing every time. Muscles, fried calamari and a bottle of wine. Yum. Three hour lunch right there.

But this place was local, run by a local couple. In the beginning they had paper plates and plastic tableware, he cooked and she waited on tables, but as they got more successful they expanded the menu, hired help and it got a little fancier. My parents liked it so much that my mother even knitted booties for them when they had kids, three daughters if I remember. They even sent flowers to my father's funeral. But they eventually split up so, sadly, it isn't there anymore. That was my favorite place and I miss it.

We started with the little places in Provincetown long before they were famous.

We had a second independent seafood place around here, but that's now gone, too - the building is now Convenient Medical Care. We now have a Red Lobster and I've been there a couple of times with friends, but it's not at all the same.

....to the Big E (just closed last week)? They've got lots of stuff like that there.

The official name is the Eastern States Exposition. It takes place in West Springfield for about three weeks in September/October. This year they had over a million visitors.

Heard of the ESE.

Never attended. Springfield is a bit of a haul for me.
