The Democratic Primary
With the next Democratic debate only a week away, Warren and Biden both keep their top of the pack positions in the Democratic primary, with Warren receiving support from 29 percent of Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic and Biden getting 26 percent support. Sanders seems to be the only other candidate left in the mix with the two frontrunners, receiving 16 percent of the vote. No other candidate tops 4 percent.
"Warren maintains her strength in the Democratic primary, which has been consistently growing since the start of her campaign. This poll confirms her status as a co-frontrunner with Biden," added Malloy.
This compares to a September 25 Quinnipiac University poll, in which Warren received 27 percent, Biden got 25 percent, and Sanders had 16 percent.
President Trump and the 2020 Election
Today, President Trump's job approval is nearly identical to a week ago - today, it is a negative 40 - 54 percent approval rating. Last week, his approval rating was a negative 41 - 53 percent. Looking ahead to the 2020 presidential election, he receives similar levels of support as his approval rating against top Democratic contenders:
Sanders tops Trump 49 - 42 percent, compared to 53 - 39 percent on August 28;
Warren wins against Trump 49 - 41 percent, compared to 52 - 40 percent on August 28.
From October 4 - 7, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,483 self-identified registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points, including the design effect. The survey includes 646 Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic with a margin of error of +/- 4.7 percentage points, including the design effect.
The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts gold standard surveys using random digit dialing with live interviewers calling landlines and cell phones. The Quinnipiac University Poll conducts nationwide surveys and polls in more than a dozen states on national and statewide elections, as well as public policy issues.

(8,745 posts)Research has shown that AA voters are more pragmatic than centrist. They tend to be reluctant to vote for someone who may struggle to win in the GE. This was even true of Barack Obama. Until he showed that he was capable of winning, AA voters went for the establishment candidate.
While Biden supporters often overstate the depth of his support with AA voters, they radically overstate the community's opposition to Warren - her favorability ratings remain quite high.
Should Warren take Iowa and New Hampshire, she will be seen as increasingly viable. She is trouncing Trump by 8 points in the same poll, so fearmongering that she will hand the White House to Trump becomes increasingly desperate.
All of this would be meaningless if she were not an amazing candidate who can fire up a crowd, but still have remarkable message discipline and organizational strength.
She's surging for a reason.

(1,812 posts)I'm surprised Kamala Harris is down to just 3% ...I think she is doing better than that .. Bernie is doing better than 2% support amongst voters 65 and older . He's got roughly 5% - 6% support in that subgroup of voters .He's doing a point or 2 better than the Quinnipiac Topline Poll results suggest .Overall, this poll seems to be a fair reading of the current Presidential Race ... All the Candidates not named Elizabeth Warren are struggling mightily

538 National Polling Averages: Biden 28.5, Warren 23.25, Sanders 15.6 (Biden +5.25)

RCP does not include all the polls listed by 538. This means their average does not include all the available data from legitimate polls 538. Like RCP, the following averages are given according to the last four polls released. The polls include both online and live polls. The sample means LV (likely voters), RV (registered voters), etc. I have listed only those with double digits Sorry about that. Consult the link above for others (Harris, Buttigieg, ORourke, Booker, Yang, etc.)).
Poll (Dates) (Rating ) (Sample): Joe Biden , Elizabeth Warren , Bernie Sanders
HarrisX (10/4-10/7)(C+)(LV): JB 33, EW 19, BS 16 (Biden +14)
Morning Consult (9/30-10/6) B- (LV): JB 33, EW 21, BS 19 (Biden +12)
IBD/TIPP (9/26-10/3)(A-)(RV): JB 26, EW 27, BS 10 (Warren +1)
YouGov (9/28-10/1)(B) (LV) Biden 22, Warren 26, Sanders 14.75 (Warren +4)
Averages: Biden 28.5, Warren 23.25, Sanders 15.6 (Biden +5.25)
This was laid out this morning by DUer uncle Noel. Thx for the complete post of the Ntl polling picture

(5,376 posts)And all 3 out of those 4 polls are online polls?
And to stress, this WAS NOT DONE by 538 but just a DU-er who decided to average the last 4 poll results on his own.
Ok...
I guess any port in a storm, eh?
What's nice about the RCP POLLS tracker is it's done by professionals, uses major polls, uses current poll results AND has a nice visual tracker. Take a look at it at RCP POLLS:

(32,771 posts)And no, theres a link to 538 and the analysis Done by 538... not by some DUer as you are saying. This person was posting a very complete analysis, more complete than RCP
538 has every bit as good as reputation as RCP if not better.
Its a more complete picture
You dont rattle me with your comments and emocons.

(5,376 posts)Currently 5 polls are included in the average. New polls are added and older polls drop off, so the number of polls utilized varies.
The DU-ers analysis would mean the HarrisX online poll could conceivable BE the last 4 polls listed by 538, I mean 538 list THIRTEEN HarrisX Polls just for the month of October already! And they were all in a row too!
That might be the reason why the online HarrisX polls are not included in the RCP POLLS tracker. THe Harris polls get listed in RCP only when they are done in conjunction with the Wall Street Journal or Harvard, which is about as often as major polls are usually released.
But if a DUer wants to average in the more than DAILY releases of the HarrisX poll in their own "average tracker", go for it, have fun.
If they want to include it in their homespun "average tracker" more often than any other poll because it is released so often, that too is fine.
