Elizabeth Warren's campaign clarifies she'll raise big-dollar money for the party as nominee

NBC News

WASHINGTON — Elizabeth Warren's quote sent shockwaves through the political campaign finance world.

If she became the nominee, she said, she would refuse to attend big-dollar fundraisers — for her campaign and possibly also for the party. Her comments came in an interview with CBS News.

CBS News: "Can you guarantee your supporters that under no circumstances, no matter how much money Donald Trump is raising, you will not take big dollar ..."

Warren: "I’m not going to go do the big dollar fundraisers. I’m just not going to do it."

I'm happy that she'll helping the Party, but I'm still concerned that she won't be able to scale up her low dollar contributions to cover her own General Election campaign.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

...and accepts big donations himself.

He has one "small donor" in particular who maxed out in June by making hundreds of $3.00 donations, giving the false aura that they're "small" donations.

What's the difference - someone who gives $2800 once or someone who gives $2800 over the course of three months in $3.00 increments an average of 11 times A DAY?

If those folks contribute to Warren's general election campaign , shell be in pretty good shape financially … A lot of the money raised for he party will be diverted to her campaign as well...

Trump raised in three months 125 million. Cost of this general will be over 1 billion

It does absolutely nothing to change campaign finance. I'm not sure how significant it will be, if it will be significant at all. There are so many ways for her to get around this and it probably increased her numbers among smaller donors. It doesn't seem to be hurting her in the primaries and PAC's be more than willing to take the money in the general, though that is much different that splitting funds with the party.

When DU says you can quote four paragraphs, they don't mean it has to be the FIRST four paragraphs, which in this case, don't have the relevant info, which pretty much begins with the paragraph "But in a statement to NBC News".

So the point is that while she will not do big dollar fundraisers for her own campaign, she WILL do them for the party. (You alluded to it in your added sentence but that point seems to have been missed by some of the people responding to this thread so far.)
