Is that why he never voted until he had the opportunity to vote for himself? How old was he when he voted for the first time? Might also explain why he doesn't know how often we vote.

that "conventional politics or liberalism was not what was relevant." Thank goodness enough people thought it was relevant to vote so the Civil Rights Act and other important legislation of the time was passed!
