Elizabeth Warren Now Running Facebook Ads Saying Zuckerberg Endorses Trump

A fresh series of Facebook ads this week by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren seeks to put the social media giant on the defensive — by telling a lie.

The ads, which began running widely on Thursday, start with a bold but obvious falsehood: That Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg have endorsed President Trump's reelection campaign.

"You're probably shocked," reads the ad, which has already reached tens of thousands of viewers nationwide. "And you might be thinking, 'how could this possibly be true?' Well, it's not."

The ad's own admission of a lie seeks to draw attention to a controversial Facebook policy Warren has spent days criticizing. Under the policy, Facebook exempts ads by politicians from third-party fact-checking — a loophole, Warren says, that allows Zuckerberg to continue taking "gobs of money" from Trump's campaign despite Trump's ads telling untruths about former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.

they are grossly misquoting unemployment rate or other measurable facts.

If trump had said, “notwithstanding polls, voters favor me to win,” in October 2016, would that be considered a lie requiring removing an ad.

I think we just have to be ready to counter anything trump says. It’s not hard to tell when he’s lying. Heck, I bet most of his supporters know when he’s lying, they just don’t care.

There you go....the Elizabeth Warren way to defend Biden and handle Zuckerberg, Facebook, Trump.

It’s not what some were demanding here, but, this is Warren’s solution-seeking way. She has the right instincts to get the job done.

Trump wants to drag Biden to his level. A deft fighter would take whacks at Trump while making it about the people, rather than just personal. There were parts of Biden's op-ed that did so and that, IMHO, would be the way forward for him.

In fairness, Facebook has been hit hard last year.

It had lots of scandals about its handling of personal information in 2018.

Luckily, it didn't stop Facebook's total revenue and profit reaching record levels. Facebook’s revenues rose 30 percent from a year earlier to $16.9 billion for the last 3 months alone of the fiscal year.

The company also noted that its estimate of fake accounts on its site had jumped 27 percent from the third quarter to 116 million in the final 3 months of 2018.

Warren wants them to refuse Trump's ads, but who will put food in the mouths of Zuckerberg's two kids?
