Trump Tax Releases a Big Boost For Warren

The U.S. Court of Appeals judge noted that the Constitution gives Congress specific authority to regulate what gifts and payments the president and other foreign officials can accept from foreign sources.

“If the President may accept no domestic emoluments and must seek Congress’s permission before accepting any foreign emoluments, then surely a statute facilitating the disclosure of such payments lies within constitutional limits,” Judge David Tatel wrote.

“That is enough. Without treading onto any other potentially fertile grounds from which constitutional legislation could flower, we conclude that given the constitutionally permissible options open to Congress in the field of financial disclosure, the challenged subpoena seeks ‘information about a subject on which legislation may be had.’”

Releasing Trump's tax records puts the conversation directly on financial corruption, which gets to the very core of Warren's campaign.

She illustrates very clearly how the rich rig the system for themselves, but perhaps not as clearly as Trump's tax records and emoluments problems.

Trump may be able to muddy the waters with Democrats on the Ukraine scandal, he will struggle to do so should (when) his financial records are shown nakedly.

1. Warren's name is not mentioned in the article or title. His tax returns likely won't boost Warren.

Returns will likely show he hasn't made as much money as he claims, doesn't give to charities, doesn't pay much in taxes probably because of business losses and he lived off loans, etc. But, it probably won't show much in terms of sources of loans, emoluments, and the like.

And I doubt they'll do much for Warren, we already suspect the worst about trump and know that there is too much money involved in politics.

She owns this corner of the debate. It turned out to be a very smart move, didn’t it?

Maybe if she had not bashed Obama and Clinton leading into the 2016 election, we wouldn't have trump.

Here is an article title that does mention Warren's name.

"ELIZABETH WARREN JUST MADE HILLARY CLINTON LOOK BAD—AGAIN"

8. I've Been Asking Biden Supporters For His Anti-Corruption Platform and Speeches

I haven't heard a peep.

As for Clinton, Warren made two speeches supporting her in Wisconsin during the last 4 weeks before the 2016 election.

Clinton made zero speeches in Wisconsin in the last 10 weeks before the election.

That might have a little more to do with Clinton's loss than the article you cite, which lists some of the most problematic aspects of Clinton's candidacy and "third way" politics in general, but makes it out that it is Warren's fault for noticing them rather than Clinton's for choosing them.

It also contained this little nugget.

(Warren) launched several blistering attacks on Donald Trump as Clinton’s personal anger translator.

Clinton still managed the 2nd highest number of votes in US history, but her campaign wrongly prioritized fundraising on the coasts to campaigning in the Rust Belt. She spent more time at fundraisers in San Francisco and DC that October then she did in Michigan and Wisconsin.

11. Speeches were a bit late after bashing Obama and Clinton on TPP.

In the end, trump carried out reneging on TPP, and we are the worst for it.

Do you think Warren will renounce her Economic Patriotism position?

Do you really think that Trump's financial records are going to remain a secret for very long?

Meanwhile the very same Politico regularly publishes articles forecasting doom and gloom for the candidacy of Bernie Sanders ……… If Bernie has a so-so debate performance , they are really going to go to town; predicting his withdrawal from race -citing Democratic Operatives who will be out of work if he wins the nomination and , God Forbid , the Presidency …….
