Beto O'Rourke to call out Trump's 'racism and bigotry' at Alabama campaign stop
Former Congressman and Texas Senate candidate Beto ORourke is making his first visit to Alabama as a presidential candidate next week, his campaign said Friday.
ORourke is set to give the keynote speech at the Alabama Democratic Conferences semi-annual convention at the at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover on Oct. 19. The ADC is the states predominant African-American Democratic organization.
The speech will call out [President] Trumps racism and white supremacy, the ORourke campaign said. The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate contended there is a correlation between the rise in hate crimes since 2015, which marks the year Trump launched his presidential campaign.
ORourke gained a nationwide following when he challenged Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018. After his defeat, ORourke mounted a campaign for president.
