Sanders endorsement is "most authentic decision to let people know how I feel," AOC says

Oct 19, 2019

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez formally endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders at a rally in Queens on Saturday. In an exclusive interview with CBS News political correspondent Nikole Killion, Ocasio-Cortez explained why she is endorsing so early in the race.

AOC's endorsement would have had much more effect if done once the field is reduced to five or so candidates and certainly if done a few weeks before Iowa.

Not a smart move. I wonder if besides helping Bernie, AOC wanted to make some front page news for herself and the Squad given that media coverage has declined significantly.

But he is running for President of the United States. And he is polling at 8% or so in the Primaries. This should tell you where the center is among Democrats. And there is still such thing as General Elections.

Since when is a life-long Democrat similar to an on-and-off Democrat? Since when is a pragmatic intellectual similar to a pie in the sky revolutionary?

They may have some similarities in policies, but not in their fundamental views. And guess what: it is reflected in their polling.

On edit: by the same logic Bernie and Trump make up a big chink of the electorate

But don't tell me you don't know the fundamental differences between democratic socialism and capitalism.

To make it short, the fundamental difference between Sanders and Warren is this: Sanders wants to abolish existing institutions, Warren wants to reform them. The difference is reflected in their policies, time and again.

You can't put them in the same camp. Biden and Warren are a closer match than Sanders and Warren.

It has changed significantly since then, away from Bernie's model. And Warren is not aligned with it at all. Again, Democratic Socialism vs reforming capitalism. Big difference.

Bernie is a nice guy, as far as I know, and I think we would get along too. This doesn't mean I agree with him on politics, ideology, or his methods in pursuit of either.

"...the Senator has been there fighting for me, long before I got to the halls of Congress, fighting for people like me..."

...this is what it's all about...this is what we need...we need our fighter in the White House...we need Bernie as our next President...

...now is no time to slack off...let's get down to work and win this primary then win the general...we can do it, I can feel it in my bones...

...think how proud you'll feel on Bernie's inauguration day and how confident and secure we'll be; our nation reborn, with Bernie at the helm...

...nothing can stop us, nothing...FDR said it best, "The only thing have to fear, is fear itself."

...DO IT...
